View Full Version : New Agency Power Catback shipped today:)
tubingchamp 04-29-2008, 11:57 PM Unfortunately.. the TIPS ARE BENT..!! What a pain in the butt! The rest of the system looks great, getting it installed tomorrow morning.. It's not TERRIBLE but i don't like the dent right on the weld mark of the tip... :banghead:  This isn't normal for an exhaust to ship bent, is it? I know it was shipped in the condition because it had bubble wrap and 3/4"thick cardboard on the tips with no dents or bumps on them.
Jon316G 04-30-2008, 05:09 AM Thats the way my Agency Power exhaust was shipped... but I didn't find any visible defects.
FYI... with those 4" tips, make sure that they are not resting on the bumper.
Spinning Sushi 04-30-2008, 05:33 AM I heard horror stories of the exhaust tips burning off the exhaust shrouds...
tubingchamp 04-30-2008, 03:29 PM Anyone think that AP will ship me new tips via air, or will they only replace them if there's a major defect in it (i.e. a rivet broken, tip falling off, weld broken, etc.)?:dunno: Bleh all I wanted was nice round tips!! Either way, life goes on. Can try to fix them if they won't replace them anyhow..
Noble Wolf 04-30-2008, 03:46 PM Congrats for the exhaust. It's super loud and you will have flames hehe About the tips you can try contacting AP and ask if you can buy only the tips.
Jon316G 04-30-2008, 04:47 PM ^ +1... I would call them on this
tubingchamp 04-30-2008, 04:50 PM Yeah, already did. Waiting for a callback. Hope they don't jerk me around.
05rex8 04-30-2008, 07:34 PM melted my exhaust shrouds with this exhaust. had to modify them. no biggie. its super loud but sounds sweet. always get compliments on the sound and the looks. mine was in perfect shape when shipped.

Yeah... I melted mine too, but luckily it was in the back of the shrouds so its not really noticeable.
At first I thought the sound was awesome (with their midpipe installed), but after a few months it got annoying.
I just purchased the Mazsport dual resonator midpipe so I'm anxiously awaiting that.
HockeyRX-8 04-30-2008, 10:40 PM Congrats on the new exhaust. It sucks that your tips are all f#$ked up. Hope everything works out.
tubingchamp 05-01-2008, 01:14 PM Yeah, got them installed last night. They sound wicked sick, echo off every building and other vehicle I pass by. Drove by an Integra with a fart can on the back, revved it up twice really quick while passing by and my buddy said he looked almost sad. I love this!
But, AP isn't calling me back.. I've left them 3 voice mails, a fax, and an e-mail.. Kind of annoying, but the joy of the exhaust waaay outweighs the dented ends. I'll post some pictures as soon as I can with the exhaust installed. :)
Go figure the dealership that installed it left my stock muffler attached to the straightpipe and won't take it off so it's near impossible to fit it in any vehicle (even my SUV). Does the stock system hold any value? Or am I better off leaving it there?
tubingchamp 05-01-2008, 03:23 PM Got an answer from Matt there. He had been trying to reach me via my hotmail account, and it probably just blocked him out. But looks like I'll be getting some new tips.. and UPS will be paying for the shipping. Hoorah!

Are you trying to say that you want to run with a single resonator midpipe and NO catback attached?
I figure that you kept the stock catback installed so that you can send the AP catback back because of the dents. If thats the case, leave the stock catback installed until you get the AP back.

Are they sending just the tips or the catback?
I'm far from being an expert at welding, so I don't know what it takes to weld the titanium tips to stainless steel pipes.
Jon316G 05-01-2008, 11:32 PM It appears that the tips are riveted on:
tubingchamp 05-02-2008, 10:12 AM Yea. You can't really weld titanum to stainless steel. They can just rip the rivets out and use a pop-gun to put new ones on.
tubingchamp 05-02-2008, 10:14 AM Nah I kept the stock cat. The exhaust came with the cat delete pipe, the other pipe.. not sure what you'd call it (I called it straightpipe) and the Y-joint+muffer+tip combo.. haha. But it should not be a problem to get new tips on with the exhaust installed..
Revolution Rotary 05-02-2008, 12:55 PM thats awesome congrats on getting the new tips. i really want the agency power exhaust but i dont want it to melt my exhaust shrouds =/
but i think if u mount the xhaust well and high enough up you shouldnt have problems right?
let me know how the car runs/sounds with it :spank:
tubingchamp 05-02-2008, 06:18 PM Runs great, sounds great.. I love revving it up! At low RPMs it's very bassy and at high RPMs its extremely orgasmic and echoes off every surface around you n bounces back.. GR I want to go drive it right now.. It's sitting outside my office window n I cant help but look at the blue tips :) Also, when I shift it always crackles.. Sounds awesome and I'm sure that it spits fire :)
tubingchamp 05-02-2008, 06:39 PM I'll see if I can't find a buddy with a good quality vid camera so I can record some sound footage of it :)

Just be careful around cops... I found myself having to REALLY feather the throttle to keep the noise (and flames) down when a cop was around.

thats sweet thanks so much i cant wait to see a good video of how the exhaust sounds & runs. im jealous of your fire breathing rx8 im not gonna lie =P
importshowoff84 05-03-2008, 12:11 PM theres a vid on youtube of a SS with the AP exhaust. Just type in Agency Power RX8 and it should show up.
G3tR3DDY2GR3DDY 05-03-2008, 12:34 PM i have the exoticspeed exhaust which is pretty much identical... my tips started rattling on the drivers side and found one of the rivets loose... they are not so easy as you think to get off with the exhaust on !
I love the sound... and the looks- on my third bumper though... :icon_no2:
importshowoff84 05-03-2008, 01:13 PM I had the B&B...but switched to the AP since I'm going turbo....cant wait to hear it.
tubingchamp 05-03-2008, 01:17 PM Well, if my shrouds melt.. I think I'll pop a CF bumper on there, maybe abit more resistant to heat then the plastic shrouds
RX876 05-04-2008, 06:57 PM seems like everyone is happy with the ap exhaust.... does it come with a dummy sensor to plug in and stop the cel from coming on?
also, does the flame shooting harm the engine?

idk about the dummy sensor i hope it does come with one but as far as th eflame no it doesnt hurt the engine. all it is is the unburned fuel coming out cuz the AP exhuast creates alot of heat and pressure so it pushes the backfiring out as flames
tubingchamp 05-06-2008, 10:49 AM Anyone know where to get those chrome exhaust finishers? I'm talking about the ones that wrap around the inside of the shrouds to prevent damage?
05rex8 05-06-2008, 11:04 PM ^dealer maybe. ebay has em for sure

I just cut out the bottoms....looks fine to me.

no dummy sensor...you will get a cel with the catless midpipe instaled. small price to pay IMO

+1 mine rattles as well at low RPMs....annoying...
tubingchamp 05-06-2008, 11:34 PM How'd you cut them? I'm not much of a tech guy.. Yet.. And, I don't have any real tools...
nuke0907 05-06-2008, 11:50 PM one of my tips was a little bent too. only one edge though so it was easily fixed. my rivets starting coming loose making the tips rattle like crazy. my shrouds never fit back on once i put it on so i drove around shroud-less for a while. i finally got a CF MS rear and my passenger side tip was rubbing the bumper. i couldn't drive it like that so i had my tips hacked off and some new ones welded on. i think I'm gonna go with an HKS Hi-Power later on. here's a pic of how it looks now.

does anyone know if there is a dummy sensor out, to throw off the cel light
alienRX8 05-07-2008, 08:49 AM Eventually you learn to ignore the light. At least I did in my other car.
