ive been talking to my dealer about a yellow sport package with GPS, but they cant find one with GPS and today he called me and said that mazda discontinued yellow, and will be making white instead....anyone else hear about this...?

I hope thats not true. That was the mistake that they made with the last RX-7. Only '93 had yellow (CYM) as an option. The other years were white. I really hate white. If this is true then the owners of the yellow ones will probably have one of the most highly sought after models later on. The CYM RX-7 is a rare find and those owners seem to take care of them like no other.

Local dealer in Columbus, OH still has yellows.

I have yellow. It's the only color i would buy. It gets washed every friday and spit shined to new.

they can still get some already built yellows, but they cant order me one with the options i want

When's the 1/2 model RX-8s coming out? This may just be a slight lul until whatever 1/2 model year cosmetic, chassis, or tweek changes are made.

For what it's worth, you can still "build" a yellow RX-8 on Mazdausa.com, and you still cannot build a white one. Of course, that may mean nothing right now since we already know Mazda can be a little slow sometimes updating their website. It'll be interesting to see if this rumor is true.

Personally, I think the RX-8 looks great in white (based on the Japan-spec pics I've seen), and I don't like yellow cars. But I hate to see a color choice eliminated -- I'm all for choice!

Much better looking than yellow IMO.

I think the best colors for the RX are black, titanium grey and white.

i wanted yellow b/c i miss my CYM....but i do like the look of the RE Amamiya car..and planed on getting their front bumper coer and rear wing, probily side skirts also

CYM was discontinued due to environmental reasons. I think it was too expensive to dispose of CYMs paint by products or something like that. I love that color though, not crazy about the 8's yellow.

White cars are awesome.
THey show dust and dirt much less than darker colors. Seems like my blue 8 gets dusty as soon as I drive it after a wash.
(I used to have a white 280Z that I loved).

i LOVE yellow, and yellow is my first choice always. i think it would be a HUGE mistake to discontinue the yellow on the 8. it's one of the best looking colors for the 8. i like the white also, think it looks great on jdm-spec cars. but i like the yellow more. and while i think the green is a very nice color, that's the color they'll likely discontinue next year 'cuz so few people/dealers ordered in green, and imo it is a very beautiful color but seems a bit odd on a car like RX-8. let's hope they don't discontinue the yellow...and if they do let's hope it comes back the year after

they did discontinue yellow on the 2004 mazda6 and replaced it w/ oragne. for the record, yellow showed up and went away and showed up again several times w/ the corvette throughout the years, and manufacturers make changes to color every year, so no telling what's gonna happen

I WISH the white is coming out soon... if so, i will wait for it to come out, as long as it is not past the '05 model year... i hope it comes as a .5 version...

White is a great colour - for refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, and Camrys. Appliances, in other words! ;) I'm not at all fond of it on cars, especially sports cars. It reminds me of all the delivery vehicles and rental cars around - boring and utilitarian.

i would agree with that, on porsche, ferraris, even a corvette etc... the rx8 is not quite that sporty... it looks great on the s2000 and the g35c.. i have yet to see it on the 350z (wonder if they carry that color, i dont know cuz im not considering it)... on an rx 8, it looks nice, like the titanium grey, which is not a traditional sports car color but works well here... i would love the rx8 in white, with that dark red leather, like they have on the S2000, or used to with the M3...

I'm not a big fan of white myself. I personally wouldn't choose yellow either, but it is one of those "sports car colors." Maybe Mazda likes making a few collector's items along the way, like they did with the CYM FD that everyone is talking about. I've never heard the story about disposal of paint byproducts, that's interesting. Surely they didn't put cadmium in there or something?

well, if japanese sports cars are to have their color (as in green for british, blue for french, red for italian), i think it'd be white. and imo white can be a nice color, doesn't have to be a boring standard-issue color. some cars look good in white, some don't. and i think the 8 looks nice in white. and different companies have slightly different shades of white, too. some are nice, some are bleh. 8's white is a pearl coat, isn't it? i too think it looks real clean

RX-8 is the only car I would buy in yellow (mine is silver, bought out of dealer inventory. Car looks great in yellow, one of the few cars that does (outside of Ferrari!)...

When I was shopping for my car, one dealer told me he would only negotiate off MSRP on red and yellow RX-8s because they weren't moving as well as the other colors. He implied that Titanium, Silver and Black were moving very well.

On the road here in OC, I've seen one yellow, one green, two red, several titanium and one other silver -- no blues or blacks...

i am around irvine, costa mesa, and newport beach a lot, and i have seen all the colors, kinda alot, besides green... well, only 2 yellows... mostly titanium, silver, black and blue... only 3 reds

If it's a pearlescent white, I'll be bummed. That color kicks butt, and it's the only one I would have chosen over Titanium.

what do you mean by that? white's been available in japan from day one. i really really hope your dealer is talking out of his butt :D 'cuz i don't want yellow to be discontinued and replaced by white...

I have a direct import JDM Pearlescent Mica White. This colour works well with the RX8 and it suits me. If someone could give me the instructions to post pics I would post some.

I am all for choice. Mazdausa should do white, and retain yellow and green.

I think the Japan-only Mazdaspeed edition (can you buy it yet?) is a special, darker shade of blue. Not exactly Navy but...well, I'd have to seriously consider it if it were available over here in the US.

not a GT, a sport, there are GTs with nav everywhere, i dont fit well with the sun roof being 6'4

Why would they remove yellow? Why dont they just add white and keep yellow too.

If I had a yellow 8 I would be thrilled about this news. This means that the yellow 8 will be very rare and the resale value should be higher than other colors. Now if they would just discontinue the titanium grey! :p

IMHO Mazda will be using yellow as a trophy car in the supercharged version of the mazdaspeed rx8 thats why they may have decided to stop yellow on the standard rx8 .

Any way here in Australia they have only sold i belive 25 YELLOWS and mine is one of them .

Yup, very true!!! Until late 1990s though. After that Silver is the great colour- for refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers and Camrys:D :D :D :D My refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers are all silver. And no, I don't have a silver camry.:p :p

Silver would be great if there weren't so many f*#%ing silver cars all over the place.

There should be some colors reserved for fast cars and I vote for "In-your-face yellow" and "arrest-me red" :cool:

when you do the post just click *browse* in the area that says attach file, attach the picture files of your car wherever they're saved on your computer. let us see it. is it a real bright white color or a little bit off-white. you said it's mica? i thought it was pearl. i wouldn't mind white w/ red/black interior

The pearlescent effect is made by the mica specks. The shade of white is kinda middle white or very slight off-white.

Is there any more confirmation on this? There are a couple yellows around town, and I decided a while ago, yellow or black. I have a black MX-6 M that I could never let go of, and I live in Phoenix so yellow it is.

If this is true, it will definitely increase their value. Maybe I should go get one. There is one with yellow leather up town that's actually on ebay right now.

However, I have waited this long, I might as well wait for Mazda to fix the damn MPG and HP issue. Although from the sound of it there may never be a yellow RX-8 with the updates.

I like the white color on the 8, it looks good.:D
