Hello guys,

Before everyone considering FI the rotary engine "after-marketly", would you really believe that Mazda will bring a supercharged version RX8 into Australia next year?

I heard/read this somewhere and it seems to be the mazda "Official" announcement on the up coming RX8 though. My mate is looking forward to buy a RX8, but kinda been told-off by a sales man on the rumour of the supercharged RX8 next year... that's why he would rather wait for the s'charged version...

Now I recalled, I think I read it on Motor/Wheel mag on this news, did anyone read something about this anywhere as well?
What do you think the possibility of this? Or has it been announced officially?

I would LOVE to see the "officially" supercharged 8 as it will be covered under warranty... also might consider selling my nismo Z for that s'charged 8....

cheers,

richie

Yes there are rumours out there - but at this stage that is all they are. Personally I'll believe it when I hear it, but until then, I'm not holding my hopes up. I have also heard form other sources that Mazda have no intention of releasing an SC'd RX-8.

i read the article, it was talking, or should i say speculating about the idea being launched in september 04 in the UK. However we'd almost certainly know about it by now if it was.

True enough... we would have got the news on the SCed 8 already by now if it is going to be released sometime next year...

Go Kas... cannot wait to see your turbo version 8!

I work for Mazda and have access to the Mazda Global Media site.

At this stage there is nothing to suggest a Supercharged Renesis.

IMHO they won't be using a Supercharger ?

Mazda always seem to resort to using turbo's.

Not sure how a Renesis turbo would go through emissions though ?

The Truth is nobody knows...... Apart from E & T Mazda Japan.

And Hidetomo knows nothing about it so I guess thats a No from Japan.

Thanks Maestro..... thank you for the confirmation on this rumour! I will pass the message to my friend..... and it seems that it is kinda "impossible" at this stage....

We will just need to watch out MazdaSpeed department now.... don't know if they will have any FI setup for the car!

cheers,

richie

Even if a supercharged version was available, I'd doubt that it would appeal more than the current version. Goodness knows its fast enough now. Also it drinks PULP quickly enough now, if it became thirstier the back seat would need to house the fuel reserves ....

It'll be the one that comes with it's own fuel tanker no more than 5 metres behind it at all times :)
