I have seen the exact car I want at a dealer 35 miles away. I have a local dealer 3 miles away (Both in the same state). My question is will I get a better deal (all things being equal) from the dealer with the car, or the local one who will of course be able to "find and get" this car for me?

My guess is the dealer with the car will geive you the best deal -- they don't have to invest any time in the thing except writing up the sales order. I would check with the local place after you get a firm price you're happy with from 35 miles away. They will probably match it despite the extra work. I prefer to stay with the local dealers, if possible. They take care of their own customers first.

If you buy a car at a dealership, you sometimes get some extra benefits from the service department, like loaner cars, or rush service, or something like that. However, it will be difficult at the moment for the dealer near you to obtain the exact car you're looking for... ordering it from the port or factory will take months, and if they try to dealer trade for it, it will take at least a little while. Plus, depending on how far down they are on the price, they may not be willing to dealer trade for it anyway.

Your best bet... if you're happy with the vehicle and the price you found 35 miles away, buy that car. You can still take it to any Mazda dealer for warranty service, and if there's some compelling reason to, you can still take it to the dealer 35 miles away for service if you really want to.
