Greetings, fellow rotary fans! :)

A quick explanation of the thread title: my friends have been known to compare my car's appearance to that of the Batmobile, so if you were expecting this to be a message from Batgirl, I'm sorry to shatter your illusions. ;)

I bought my car on Labor Day last year, and I just hadn't gotten around to posting pics on the forum until now.

The Car:
2007 Brilliant Black GT 6-Spd MT w/ black leather + the works

A Couple of Mods:
- Mazdaspeed front bumper
- Mazdaspeed side skirts
- Rear aero flares
- Rear spoiler
- Strakes (because I CAN)

I'd like to add a few more significant changes (i.e. wheels, exhaust, intake, clear corners, tail lights, in that order), but that's only if I ever get extra money to burn, which is very unlikely this year. Too many other items on the wishlist at the moment, and last I checked, money still refuses to grow in the tree in my back yard. :(

Anyway, I got rear-ended last year less than a couple of months after I bought the car, so I had to get the back bumper fixed. That was when I added the Mazdaspeed front bumper instead of the Mazda appearance package front, in order to match the Mazdaspeed sides that were already on my car. Michael J's Body Shop in San Jose did great work for a very reasonable price, and I'm quite happy with the result.

As for the rear bumper, I'm not impressed with the look of the MS rear--stock looks so much better, IMO--so I'd rather spend my money on wheels. I'm quite content with the body kit as it is, after going through the trouble of getting the rear aeros to more closely match the height of the stock rear with the MS sides. It looked awkward before.

XDEEDUBBX, I've glimpsed people's opinions on the strakes around the forum, and clearly, I've made my aesthetic choice. Tom-ay-toh, tom-ah-toh. :beerchug:

I do agree about the clear corners, though, thebiggdaddy. The orange stands out. I guess that's one of the first cosmetic changes for a lot of people here...

+1 ... tint on BB makes the car more "batmobilish" <--- :lol2: always loved that kit... still contemplating on going for another kit or go back to the MS... ;)

Car looks great but i definitally agree that you need some wheels. Get some black one's!

i like strakes and the stock rear also. i just got a rear rotor accent and the exhaust shields and called it a day

The strakes is what makes it look hot.

i agree with everyone the car looks nice clears and rims, maybe some window tint and some lowering springs too. but i know what you mean when you have so many things you wanna do to your ride but the money just isnt there...O how i wish i could win the lottery... ha ha

YES. Your car is sweet. I can't really see too clearly in the pic, but are your rims black, too?

I initially considered black rims to go with the car, but I think there is such a thing as too much black, especially if you tint your windows. Besides, how are people supposed to admire who's driving this beautiful beast if you do tint the windows? Just kidding.

Anyway, my brother suggested tinting, too, right after I bought the car. Great minds think alike, eh? It's definitely something I'll consider.

Very wise and very true teachings, Master Jedi. Studies in Japan have shown that strakes can add approximately 20.5whp to the blessed vehicle, give +6 charisma points to the driver of said blessed vehicle, and cure half a dozen forms of malignant cancer.

I'm obviously a bit biased for the MS kit, so I say go for it. I checked out a lot of kits, but to me, nothing beats the classy look and high quality of the Mazdaspeed kit. Then again, maybe it's a personal issue--I don't want to look like a racer because I don't race, but I won't settle for the stock look, either.

If you go to Michael J's, tell them the young lady with the black RX-8 who needed her rear bumper fixed last year and specially ordered the MS front bumper from SoCal recommended them on RX8Club. Jeff, the manager, might give you a better deal, if he still remembers me. He's a nice guy.

Thanks to everyone on the forum who took the time to add comments. It's great to hear others' inputs on a subject in which we all clearly have invested. :)

Getting the money to make it all happen, on the other hand... that part's not so great. Gas prices are bad enough. But yes, perks11, if I won the lottery, you wouldn't even recognize the car once I got done with it.

If you look really closely, you can see a distorted version of me in various reflections on my car. If that's not good enough, then I guess I'll show you my passport photo. I was having a bad hair day so I had to cover up a bit.
