Hello all!

Does anyone have any inside information as to whether or not Mazda will be returning to Circuit Racing around the world with an RX-8?

It will be interesting to see, as in Japan it will not be competitive in the JGTC (http://www.jgtc.net/) 300 class with the N/A 13B - therefore will they put a N/A 3rotor in the RX-8? This was, and still is approved in the FD RX-7. Will it pave the way for a production 3rotor in the RX-8?

The RX-8 will be the perfect car for Touring Cars around the world, like the "British Touring Cars (TOCA) (http://www.tocatour.co.uk/) ", "Australian Production Cars (http://www.procar.com.au/)", etc. etc.

I know that "on the quiet" - they are working with ProDrive (http://www.prodrive.co.uk) here in the UK to build a Le Mans prototype car (maybe for 2003?) - it should be a wonderful car, as Pro-Drive are one of the best race car building companies in the world.

Hi Glenn,

Welcome to the forum. I hope it's ok that I posted a link to the rx-01 video from your site. :)

I heard about the Pro-Drive partnership too but don't know anything else. Perhaps some other people here might.

A Mazda representative said that Mazda was looking into developing an RX8 engine and car for the Speed Channel GT series here in the States (similar to the program they have going for the Protege in the Speed Channel Touring series).

Meanwhile, moving to the Lounge...

you mean for the World Challenge, replacing the Protege?? ummmmm, that's a lot more motor than then I4's everyone there runs, and i don't think it's near enough motor for the faster series with the corvettes, saleen mustangs, vopers, nsx's, etc... maybe they'd throw a turbo on there???

just as a side note, did anyone watch all of the SCCA runoffs on SPEED yesterday?? notice how many rotary powered cars there were on the GT3 grid?? it warmed my heart, then quicked its pulse with the sound of those engines... god, it was so beautiful...

I was watching Speed channel a couple days ago, they were showing the SCCA GT3 class semi-finals. There were several RX-7's (2nd and 3rd gens) in the race, with an RX-3 leading most of it. The RX-3 driver said he hopes to be back next year with an RX-8.
