Just planned +/- my Itinerary for my upcoming move from WA to Alabama. Just got to thinkin' - if we can coordinate it'd be neat to try and meet somebody new with each stop.

If you are in the areas below and can meet at a very easy-to-find place for a quick photo op, I'd love to meet folk I'll never likely get to see again. Dates are exact, times are approximate. Folk would have to be flexible to a degree.

Day one: 12 May -

10:00a - Moses Lake, WA (Fuel stop)
1215p - Coeur D'Alene, ID (Fuel + lunch)
2:30p - Missoula, MT 164 Miles (Fuel)
4:00p - Butte, MT (Dinner + Hotel + fuel)

Day two: 13 May
1130a - Billings MT (Fuel, Lunch)
3:00p - Gillette, WY (Fuel)
4:30p - Devil's Tower, WY (pics)
7:30p - Rapid City, SD (Dinner, Hotel, Fuel)

Day three: 14 May
8:15a - Mount Rushmore National Memorial (pics)
1100a - Draper, SD (Fuel, Lunch)
2:15p - Sioux Falls, SD (Fuel)
5:30 - Omaha, NE 181 Miles (Fuel, snack dinner)
2030 - St. Joseph, MO 131 Miles (Hotel + fuel)

Day four: 15 May
1200p - Columbia, MO (Fuel, Lunch)
2:30p - Gateway Arch St. Louis, MO 125 Miles (Fuel, pics)
4:00p - Metropolis, IL (Dinner +Hotel + Fuel)

Day five: 16 May
11:30a - Nashville TN (Fuel, Lunch)
3:00p- Birmingham, AL 191 Miles (Fuel)
7:30p- Enterprise, AL (Hotel, then Rental place, then buy a house, cuz I just moved. Oh. And Fuel, too.)

I know it'd be a long shot - and the times I have between points are exaggerated (I added time to Maps.Google.com's estimates just cuz), but if any of ya wanna meet a stranger, fellow RX8er, holler. I'll PM my cell # to those interested. I'll also plan on doing a running blog to talk about my experience in the car.

So - that's the deal :)

Have fun Darin.

Let me be the first to say this: Stop at some diner shortly before Devil's Tower, order a ton of mashed potatoes, make a big mashed potato replica of the Tower and get some pics w/it. You will achieve epic coolness.

Driving Tip. 1-65 is ALWAYS torn up due to construction from KY south. Be careful, and Nashville is a BIOTCH to get through for the same reason. Also, the TN troopers are NO JOKE! They watch for shiny little sports cars, especially with out of state tags. It's windy and mountainous in areas too so its fun, but they will get ya if you aren't careful. Watch for lots of speed limit changes once you cross into AL... If you are tired..get off on 565 east and come into Huntsville. The space and rocket center is cool and a great place to relax. I think the rain is supposed to stop tomorrow. It does get crazy around rush hour so just be careful. I'd love to meet you, since I live in Huntsville but my sis's birthday is tomorrow... and I'll be outta town.

The same goes for the troopers in AL...especially around Decatur, and Cullman which are north of B'ham. It too is a BIOTCH...but there's no avoiding it. Montgomery the same....bumperty bumpety bump on the interstate.lolol

Why Enterprise if I may ask? I hope it's family because there's nothing else there..The only good thing is it's not far from the Gulf!

Have fun and happy driving.

I guess you've not had that much experience with Southern Hospitality. It does sound a bit different in our 'native tongue".

I just took part of this route last week DMP. Illinois was by far the worst state I have even had the misfortune to be in! GL staying the night there and make sure to double lock the door!! Then again, I was stuck in hill billy deleverance while I was there, seems you ave found population there, I never saw any.

Thanks for the advice! :)

Enterprise? It's actually not about family. See, all my family is back up in Puyallup, WA and WA state. :) As of last Sunday, I officially work for Fort Rucker, AL. I figured I'd move to make my commute easier. :)
