A couple of weeks ago on the way to work, I spotted this silver Mazdaspeed RX-8! I was traveling on the 55 freeway south just south of the 5 freeway (in Southern CA). It was confirmed by a Mazda employee I know that it was an actual Mazdaspeed RX-8 going to Mazda headquarters in Irvine. Enjoy!

Can't be for SEMA, it looks like its fresh from the factory! It even has the protective covering.

I really want that body kit.

Those are the SEMA cars - all four of them.
THe protective paper isn't anything special, even dealers can apply that if needed. It is cheap protection against rocks in transit.

I'd agree - that's no ordinary Miata, it's the Mazdaspeed Turbo Miata! Not on sale at dealers yet...

What is SEMA?

Beside the body kits stuff that costs nearly $4000 to put on, and the performance wheels, how is the horse power of the Mazdaspeed version of the RX8? Is there a Turbo in there, and a better suspension system?

SEMA - Specialty Equipment Market Association
"Our members offer innovative specialty equipment products and services that enhance a vehicle's style, utility, and performance while providing vehicle owners with an added sense of comfort, convenience and enjoyment. "

The MazdaSpeed RX-8 has a different exhaust system and that is it. No forced induction of any kind. Not even an intake. Same horsepower as retail.

how much do you think the mazdaspeed 8 will go for? they cant charge more than 10grand on top of the MSRP? can they?

They have no plans to sell it as a factory option package.
MNAO just delivered brochures, to dealers that are part of the MazdaSpeed program, that lay out all of the options.
It is up to the individual dealers to sell "packages" to the end buyers.
No vehicles will come off the boat like that.

exactly...it's a money marketing scheme...

I have one of the brocures...

according to it the mirrors, which look cool but are not powered, will not be sold in the U.S.

prices will be lower since they will be stocked in the US which is cool, but I like the way the appearance package side skirts look better than the MS ones...

i think Volk wheels and the MS Spoiler on mine will suffice...(not that i have them....just wishing)

It's funny because in reading through the brocure it talks about how much more money Mazda is forecasting to make with these 'options" since it will allow them to be financed with the car at the time of buying....funny how that works huh??

I was at SEMA and spent a lot of time at the Mazdaspeed booth. From what I understand, the Mazdaspeed RX-8 package includes front fascia, rear spoiler, side skirts, carbon-fiber door pillar accent, carbon fiber interior accents, stiffer shocks, and two wheel options (one aluminum and one magnesium).
