They are just very, very different types of cars no matter how you look at them. (I'm not saying BMWs and Mercedes are bad- hell, our current car is a 325i- but BMW and Mercedes = big, heavy, and powerful and Mazda = light, nimble, and quick- at least that's been my experience. The other shareholders would have to give their consent to start with. And having the 2nd largest Mfg. vehicle wise gives Mazda a broader financal base to do better R&D. and product development. than what BMW or Damlier Chry. or anybody else could offer.:cool: N1XRR 12-25-2002, 06:36 PM Ummm, unless I'm mistaken Mercedez still has the patent for the rotary engine per buying NSU like 30+ years ago. Mazda is under contract making rotary engines, and I believe that contract ended 2 years ago which allows Mazda to do whatever the hell the want with the rotary, hense a 250hp N/A rotary.
