unemployed pimples,
If you are referring to the rotary engines, Ford has nothing to do with the manufacturing of the rotary engines. So it matters not whether they are partially owned by Ford or BMW or whoever.

well, they could show Mazda ways to make their cars a lot heavier, to start!

I don't think it could do anything to help Mazda, honestly. They are just very, very different types of cars no matter how you look at them.

(I'm not saying BMWs and Mercedes are bad- hell, our current car is a 325i- but BMW and Mercedes = big, heavy, and powerful and Mazda = light, nimble, and quick- at least that's been my experience. Not including M series, etc.)

Ford only has 1/3 of Mazda so if they want to sell. The other shareholders would have to give their consent to start with. And having the 2nd largest Mfg. vehicle wise gives Mazda a broader financal base to do better R&D. and product development. than what BMW or Damlier Chry. or anybody else could offer.

Ummm, unless I'm mistaken Mercedez still has the patent for the rotary engine per buying NSU like 30+ years ago. Mazda is under contract making rotary engines, and I believe that contract ended 2 years ago which allows Mazda to do whatever the hell the want with the rotary, hense a 250hp N/A rotary. If I'm wrong, please let me know!
