does anyone know if you can turn off the check engine light by unplugging the battery for an hour? i had a spark plug issue ......so i changed those but now i just want to get that enginge light off. thanks!

It will go away, but if there is still a problem it will come back eventually

Or find someone with an ODB-II scanner, read the code and clear the light.
At least then you'll know what's going on.

Generally not a good idea but I've been guilty of doing it once or twice for my catless CEL for particular reasons :O
