well a couple weeks ago for my birthday i bought myself some tints for my car, 20% all around. i had to find out the hard way that when it rains you cant see SH!T. I was on my way home from a dinner party and it was pouring rain and i couldent see a thing. I was tailing this pick up truck cause all i could see were his lights. I was going about 40 mph and all of a sudden he swurves to the next lane. In my head i was like wtf? then i looked ahead and BAM. I hit the intersection curb. I kept telling myself this is not happening. When i got home i looked and my rim was bent, my mazdaspeed front bumper was cracked and to top it all off when i woke up in the morning oil was all over my driveway. I put my car up on a jack and saw that my oil pan was smashed in and has a crack in it. Not a very big crack but oil was dripping out slowly. So now im guessing im screwed and have to bring it to mazda to get a new oil pan. Towing the car there would be kinda pricey so im thinking of duct taping the crack, adding oil, waiting about a day, and then driving it there myself. Good idea? bad idea? Also does anyone know how much a new oil pan would run me? Ive got money so im thinkin of just letting them put a new Mazdaspeed front bumper/ sideskirts/ and rear diffuser on while its there. Then i got to buy a new rim. In my head im thinkin about 4g's all together. This is a really bad month for me. My grand father died 3 weeks ago on my 21st birthday, I had a fever of 105, I had a minor heart attack, and a cold, now this.....

so i'm just curious how the tint had to do with anything. the accident is quite unfortunate but the thing that should be learned from this is not to tailgate in the rain.

Tint is all the way around on your rear windows your fronts and your back window. How would blaming the accident on the tint do anything? It is not tinted on the windshield so how would that effect what is in front of you? Sorry for your accident but this is pure driver error and not the tints fault...
I punctured my oil pan not too long ago and I patched the leak with a hi-temp putty that I got from an auto parts store while waiting for the funds coming from a claim that I filed against Caltrans.
Easy temp fix, drop the oil, let it drain long enough (I left it overnight). Then clean the surounding area with denatured alcohol or any degreaser and use a sand paper to scuff the area where you will be applying the putty. Mix the putty to an even color and then apply it to the oil pan. Let it sit for a few hours and refill with engine oil.
...or you can just get a used RX8 oil pan and a new gasket and install it yourself.
btw, Insurance should cover the repairs on your car but you'll likely get a point for that unless you hit something that was on the road that wasn't supposed to be there. Then in that case, the City/State would be responsible for the damages sustained on your vehicle.
If you have the funds for it, just purchase the parts and DIY.
My condolences to you and your family, happy 21st, hope you get better soon and gl on the car!

I'm sorry but I owned a black car with 20% all the way around. Then put 5% on top of the 20% and I never experienced anything like that in the 3 years I owned it!

I would remove the front window tints. Now you know why it is illegal.

sucks beeotch..... haha cracks me up everytime :D
i would say if you told your insurance company that its a mazda accessory certified by mazda that they would cover it. My insurance company covered all my veilside stuff, aftermarket rims, clear corners, and didnt ask any questions. I may have just got a lazy estimator, but it was def. worth the try!
New bumper- 1224 from montgomery mazda. plus shipping (200)
Oil pan- 148 new from same
wheel- 150-200 on here
New oil- 40
less than 2k
Not too bad ??

when i was following him i had to switch into the far left lane, i couldent see if i switched over 2 lanes because there were no street lights and the rain was pouring. The way to get on the main road is confusing, the district is called 7 corners and there are random mini medians scattered everywhere. on top of that when it rains my windows fogged up like crazy. my glasses were fogged up too lol. so i called my insurance and i guess they are gonna cover everything.
