Cannot push the driver side door open and have it stay open. It will spring back and shut on me. Must leave a hand on it the whole time to guide it open. If wearing seatbelt, not possible to keep door in the open position. Must deshackle seatbelt in order to keep door open while in seated position.

Cannot reach to the back seat and grab something out of a zippered bag. It is just barely out of reach due to the chair design blocking me. Must exit the vehicle and open mini door to access.

Passenger side door does not unlock simultaneously via remote. Requires two keypresses. Tricks me every time!

The HID bulbs are aimed so low as to be dangerous while driving at interstate speeds of 70-85 mph. At night, if there is something on the road, basically you must hit it as there is only 1.5 seconds from view to impact.

Apparently suv and trucks and other tall standing pieces of garbage are exempt from having to aim HID bulbs low like ours. They are free to shine straight ahead into your mirrors. Double standard.

As time goes on, less and less ability to strike fear into other drivers hearts. Or am I getting old?

I hate my gas mileage. There is nothing else about the car to hate. If there is dont buy it.

I guess it all depends on what you expect out of your car.
Every car has it's pros and cons.... just depends on what you want.

Yeah, I have this problem and I can't stand this. If the door was as heavy as the one on a '77 Monte Carlo, I'd definitely have broken legs and arms by now. I've thought about seeing if something/hinges could be adjusted.

Based on my 2005 with 37k miles and 2.5 years of ownership...

Pros: Extremely reliable, Handling, Steering/drivetrain feel, Driving position/comfort, Back seats, Perfect weight distribution, RWD, Engine smoothness, Overall refinement, Exterior styling, Interior styling, Pricing, Low maintenance, 9000k+ redline, 6-speeds, Mountain driving, Lightness, Cheap insurance

Cons: Gas mileage in the city when driven like it should be, Lack of torque below 4000 rpm, Resale value, Shitty-ass dipstick on a car where oil level is critical, Constantly answering questions of passerbys/drive-thru workers interested in it, Everyone and their dog trying to race me at stoplights, Speed-restricted streets/highways, Convincing people they have no idea what they are missing if they've never driven this car, Explaining what the hell a rotary engine is

thats all I can think of for now...

Overall analysis (considering the importance of the pros/cons mentioned):
Pros.............................................. . 96%
Cons.............................................. .. 4%

Oddly enough, I don't have that issue. I hear about this all the time, and I park on a slight incline, and it really doesn't swing back and kill my shins. Did they fix that in the 07 models?

Definitely check out the S2K and Z car to see where your preferences really lie.

A supped up FC body is a whole different animal.

I mean ... come on.

You're buying a car not us, what does it matter if all of us say *YES BUY IT!*

Dont forget this is a *RX8* community forum, what kind of answer are you expecting from us ? To hell with RX8 ? jeeze

Its like asking someone who likes Orange that "Does orange taste good?"

very true i would be the one buying the car but i can only learn so much from a test drive. Thats why i have to ask people who have owned there 8's for a while. Which would answer questions about reliability and issues that the car has later down the road. The have you had your motor replaced wasn't to comforting.

i did go test drive a 8,Z and S2k. The Z seemed good but there was something i didn't like that i cant really touch on. The S was a little to small of feel for me. I like the rx8 I gotta say i loved the way it handled. as for the things i didn't like one was the back seat and the half doors. Didn't seem to prove to useful.

Now a question i do have is i am in the Military and will be going on 6 month tours at a time. So im curious to know if the car is able to sit for that long or would i definitely want to have someone i trust take it out once and a while and drive it?

from what i read, when the 8's sat for a while unused, you needed to do a few things to them first. like change their oil or something? not sure, read it somewhere around here though in this section

Very true. I can't remember how many times it sprung back and hit me on my left leg as I'm about to get out. Now, I do the "stiff arm" at the same time as I put my left leg out.

This has never happened to me...the doors have certain angles where they sort of lock and stay open.
