Mazda Dealership Overfilled Manual Tranny While Performing 30k Maintenance

Hey Guys, I need to find out if there may be terminal damage due to dealer negligence while performing the 30k service.

Transmission oil was changed, I drove the car for about 80 miles, I broke down on my way to the races in Homestead (BUMMER!) The stick was really hot, and the transmission felt like goo, absolutely no gear engagement.

The dealer told me that the tranny had been erroneously overfiilled, that the clutch and gearbox are fine, but I doubt it, does anyone know if they're yanking my chain?

Thanks!!

how do they even overfilled it ?

No matter which method, hand pump or pour into the shift **** area,

the only way I can think is that, they did not take the top fill bolt out, just giving it a *guess* on how many quarts should they pour.

This tranny takes about 2 Quart.

There shouldnt be any damage, but I will stay away from that place As far as I can.

Thanks dude, that assures me some. There was some smoke, but it dissipated pretty soon. After about 20 minutes there was no burnt smell at all.
I took my 8 to the local Mazda dealer, supposedly reputable. I am to get the car tomorrow. We'll see what type of jod they'll do.

Thanks again

Hey dude,

I think you're right, I did see some tranny oil on the pavement after I was rescued, and it looked just fine.

The Mazda dealership assures me that there was no further damage, I will make them put it in writing!

Thanks again man!

Also possible that they just got some trans fluid on the outside of the transmission during filling (easy to do) and that dripping down caused the smoke.

Guess What??!!!?? They Did It Again!!!!!!!!

Yes, they did it again!

After keeping the my 8 for 5 days, Saturday to Thursday, they still could not repair it properly, it leaked & burned noticeably transmission oil while on the road.

But please be assured that roadside assistance will pick you up pretty soon after you break down (4 hours!!)

And the receptioninst at the dealer will be kind and understanding of your ordeal
("I don't need that attitude!!")

GREAT CAR!!! I LOVE DRIVING IT!!!

Lousy service though, are the Mazda dealer dudes trained by the DMV?

Are they such losers that they have to **** with your car so much so that they can feel a little better about their pathetic little lives?

Have to tell ya guys, I'm pretty sore right now, incompetence is rampant down here, I'll keep you updated with the next **** up they'll probably (happily) commit
