Well, 3 pulls is not really enough time for a "tune", but we can work something out on the street.
That said, there is no real "tune" for nitrous unless you have worked out something I don't know about for telling the EMU that you are spraying.

3 pulls is just what we'll start with. The shop is open ALL day so I don't see any problems throwing a couple more in there if time permits. :)

I guess it comes down to who is there and how the work flow is going.
I can get a lot done in 3 pulls, but it is dependent on having a car with no issues.

that was the EXACT question I asked the owner yesterday. He mentioned that almost every single shop in that center is closed on Saturdays (with the exception of the smog facility next door). We should have most of the parking to ourselves. :)

We managed to get 24 cars done here on the AZMC dyno day.
Of course, we were at UMS tuning, so we were able to dyno two cars at a time on the split DynaPack.
It still took 11 hours.

20 cars in one day on a DynoJet is going to be really pushing it.

we did 19 last year without a hitch! (including breaking for lunch)

Not everyone here has an AP, so it's not as if we're tuning every car. We're also not tuning these cars from scratch, some of you will be running a certain map already and jeff will just need to fine tune. RELAX Razz, as we get closer to the event we can fine tune the details.

Maybe if we get to many we can set up a Dyno day for Sunday at RR.

Mustang dynos might read "low", but its reality.
DynoJet numbers are for bragging.

A Dynojet though can be remarkably consistent, as I learned doing a story on M3 tuning. As long as all of the pulls are done on the same machine, with the same operator and fairly consistent atmospheric conditions, even small differences like just a couple horsepower can be repeatedly demonstrated. That makes it a very effective tuning tool, nothing more, nothing less.

People who feel they NEED a big HP number are like people who feel they need a Ferrari, yet never drive at the limit. How many people realize that the only time you REACH a certain HP is at a certain RPM at WOT? If you're not stomping the pedal to the floor, you're not generating that HP. Even when you DO reach that number, it's just for a fraction of a second, then you're past it on the curve and power drops off again.

Or to put it another way, the cars which made Porsche a legend as a manufacturer weren't their high-horsepower, ungodly pricey modern cars. It was their immediately-accessible, fun-yet-difficult-to-master old carbureated 911s and 356s. People who once owned these car still speak of them in hushed reverent tones. Driver's cars, not horsepower cars.

Were they faster than today's cars. No. Were they more fun? Undoubtably, hell yes they were!

How about doing a "before" dyno on my RX-8, then installing my Fidanza flywheel and clutch, then doing an "after" dyno and see what it shows?

Make the day easy on yourself AND on your car. Make sure you guys are prepared for the day.
- Check your fluids
- Check your Spark plugs (!!!)
- check your coils
- clean air filter
- etc, etc

Just some small routine maintenance to make sure your car brings it's A-Game that day.
If you've installed any recent mods, make sure they're installed properly so you don't encounter any problems as your car is SCREAMING towards fuel cutoff. :)

i had a fix it ticket on my daily driver in santa monica a few months ago and actually got it signed off but never sent the ticket...so yesterday i get a mailer stating my license is suspended, they left a contact number but i cant call unitl moday to see if there is anything i can do to resolve the situation

i didn't wanna miss out on this one - i went to yoshi when i got my first dyno pulls - now with some small upgrades here n' there i figure, why not see if there's any improvements...

for those of you who are lowered; any ideas on how to make it easier to get in the driveway?

I'm on Koni's + S-techs and I've NEVER scraped but apprently this is an issue for some???

2x4's? plywood ramp?? thoughts? I should be there early on Saturday so I can help out with the driveway if it's truly going to be an issue. Speak up though, let me know what you guys think will work.

i've never been to neptune speed, but 2x4s will work if much angling isn't required. i use 2x4s to get up places that have too high a curb to get up to. if it's the slope of the driveway we might need a ramp. (or a gripload of 2x4s)

i guess it's a good thing i'll still have my kit off. lol

there shouldn't be any problems with scraping if angled all the way up and down the driveway. i've done so with my 8 there many many times and my car was LOWWWWWWWWWW

The idea behind having a dyno order is so that you do NOT have to be there ALL day. You can simply be there around you 'scheduled' time and come and go as you please.

as for the parking situation: Neptune speed is located towards the rear of a small automotive plaza (think cul-de-sac) so parking will be a bit tight.
I spoke with Yoshiya (the owner) about this and he assured me that most of the businesses in that plaza are closed on Saturdays so we should have free reign of most of the area.

If push comes to shove, there's a high school directly across the street, we can always move cars there if need be.

I never was using the AP. I will probably require AP tuning at the time. I want to see if a few intx issues go away with the AP.

slavearm: I'd recommend buying an AP prior to the event if possible, it'll make tuning on the 26th a bit easier. (as the fuel trims will settle)

It was up there like that for 2 minutes than the wheels come off and its strapped to the DynaPack.

ocho: there's a good amount of people who are on the OEM flash, don't worry about it. This would be a good way for you to get a baseline dyno in case you add more mods down the road.
