View Full Version : Deal of a lifetime: Dreams become reality!
BoostAddict 03-25-2008, 02:49 AM So....
I've been looking through every possible website, newpaper add ect ect for a used 2005-2008 C6. I came across an add burried on a Craigs List for a 5028 mile...yes... five thousand and twenty eight mile 2006 Vette for sale. I inquired to the seller and found out it was an older lady who had lost her husband and wanted to give the car to a new owner who would enjoy it as much as her husband did.
Here is the kicker....
It was listed as $11,000..... what...the...fuck....
She had it dropped off at her nearest chevy dealer, they checked it out.
They said it's as clean as if it came off the showroom floor.
I'm driving 380 miles tomarrow to go pick it up. I can't even put to words the fact I found a $40,000+ car for $11,000. I'm sorry to hear about her loss but....jesus H chirst....To top it off the car has a supercharger (dealership said they did the work)and other goodies. She had a build sheet and a dyno sheet. The car is making 648 RWHP <drool> ... i'm just too excited.
dshiznit1489 03-25-2008, 03:04 AM lucky. Post pics!
xsnipersgox 03-25-2008, 03:05 AM gratz, my god u had a steal. i would get her number and call her up every once in a while to say that you are taking good care of her husband's baby. but be careful of scams and what not too, make sure that EVERYTHING checks out.

Indeed. The dealer said everything was legit. I've done a fair bit of checking and everything seems ok. I'll obviously know more when I get there. Pics coming soon...followed by a new set of rear tires ;)
Macius8 03-25-2008, 09:13 AM No way BS man, post pictures and a bill of sale. Post here and on digitalcorvetts
playdoh43 03-25-2008, 09:32 AM nice, im always on the look out for a good deal but 99% of the times it has been BS, ive called about $45k 2006 M5 with 11k miles :p etc, usually the answer is "the car is out of the country, I can ship it to you :)" or "my friend is playing a prank on me, people have been calling me all day, i dont even have a bmw"
congrats to you!
Design1stCode2nd 03-25-2008, 10:48 AM Hopefully its not the 3 guys waiting to mug you when you get there. What old lady knows how to use craig's list?
DaBatMan 03-25-2008, 11:51 AM ^lol
congrats... deal of a lifetime is right.
delhi 03-25-2008, 01:40 PM Sure it's not a Chevette? It's still a 'vette. :)
lilring 03-25-2008, 02:03 PM what city did you find it at? cuz im lookin at a vette for cheap too.
Jedi54 03-25-2008, 02:11 PM alright, someone's gotta do it....
:bsflag:
llzjayarzll 03-25-2008, 02:23 PM when u pick it up make sure u bring a friend and a couple knives for safety reasons. oyu can never be too safe! good buy!
Staver 03-25-2008, 02:32 PM If the lady brought it into the dealership, wouldn't she just trade it in? She would have been offered way more than the $11,000 she has it listed for. The story just doesn't add up...but who am I to jump to conclusions... :(
It's too good to be true, and we all know how things that are too good to be true usually work out...

If I was in your shoes i'd call the same thing.
Either that or just post it for more.
She isn't like tales from the crypt old.
I'll post pics shortly. <laugh> at the friends and knives thing. I carry anyways.
Everything was fine, title in hand car in garage. The car was out of Idaho.
I wouldn't believe the story for a second either until I saw the car ect ect. Anyone lives near me their welcome to take a ride ;)
Anyways cheers i'm out to go drive some more.
BoostAddict 03-25-2008, 03:01 PM what city did you find it at? cuz im lookin at a vette for cheap too.
Cheapest I could find was a 2005... 50k miles... $24.5 aside from this oddball.
Jedi54 03-25-2008, 03:14 PM link to CG?
zoom44 03-25-2008, 03:22 PM when u pick it up make sure u bring a friend and a couple knives for safety reasons. oyu can never be too safe! good buy!
not very wise to bring a knife to a gun fight
Jedi54 03-25-2008, 03:25 PM This just doesn't add up:
- BoostAddict signs up for the forum this month
- Finds an ad on CG for a Vette that the dealership should have bought the second she took it in for an inspection
- No link provided for CG
- No pics of Vette
- It JUST SO HAPPENS the he ends up in a BOOSTED Vette.
:nono:
alz0rz 03-25-2008, 03:47 PM i call bs without pics!
devildog1679 03-25-2008, 04:24 PM I believe that some one would do that. My best friends cousin died (he was 32), he had a 69 Camaro SS with 32K original miles. The parents sold it to a guy for 5K, they were told they could get at least 30K if not more for it. Their response was that they new how much their son loved that car and they wanted to make sure that the next owner would love it just as much. They just wanted enough money from it to pay for a debt their son had. They actually turned down large offers because they didn't like the people. They finally sold it to a guy that reminded them of their son. To this day that guy calls on X-mass and sends pictures of awards the car has won at shows.
DailyDriver2k5 03-26-2008, 08:38 AM Ill say BS..... It was almost believable then you said the C6 vette was boosted, then the lady has a dyno sheet which has the vette putting down 600+ wheel HP ...WITH JUST A SC? YEAH RIGHT! You should of said a Z-06! Standard vettes come with 400HP, the new ones come with 430HP, you telling me by slapping a SC on standard vette will net you 300+ crank hp?!!!! GET OFF THE CRACK!!:icon_no2:
Because in order for a vette to make 640 to the wheels that Vette would have to make at least 750+ HP at the crank.
BS ALL THE WAY!

Actually there is only around 15% drivetrain loss in the C6 vette.
640+15% = 690.
There are many LS2 supercharged vettes that are putting around 600hp to the wheel or more.
Just because it says it's a supercharged engine, doesn't mean thats ALL it has. ECU Tune + Headers + Supercharger + Exhaust + Intake...would get you more than 600RWHP.

He never mentioned the ecu tune, headers, exhaust,intake.... those coupled to a SC, then yes, very much believable. SC alone, hell no! Stock 400HP vettes are cranking out low to mid 300WHP. A lone SC by itself will not net another 300+ WHP! ZR-1 is a Z-06 with a SC, and its not even putting out 600+WHP. And the Z-06 has 75more crank Hp than the current Vette!
THis whole story is BS!

The Automatic LS2's are cranking out low 300's...the manuals are cranking out around 360+rwhp. Also...the ZR-1 is a blown LS3...not LS7 (z06).

I said low to mid 300 whp...a SC alone will not net you another 300+whp by itself. Sorry ... not happening.
LostAngel 03-26-2008, 09:41 AM ^^I'm not saying your wrong in that case. I was just stating corrections. :-)

Thank you!
His story just didn't add up, I know all day long you will find deals like that, where somebody died,or somebody went of to war , etc.
I know that because that is how i got my mint 86 turboZ that way, I brought it off a guy whose son was shipped off to Desert storm at the time, son wanted to stay in europe after his campaign was done, needed some cash , so told his pops to let the car go for whatever. Pops was a older gentleman , and didn't know too much about cars , so he sold the Z for cheap. I needed a Daily Driver as i pumped money into my 94 TT Z to make it a highway cruise missle. Wanted my daily driver to be something in the Z family , came across that particular 86 turbo Z with low milage at the time for 2k bucks when those cars were going at the time for 6 or 7k. Made out like a bandit!
StealthTL 03-26-2008, 09:59 AM I think you are both arguing the finer points of a car that doesn't even exist......
S
VikingDJ 03-26-2008, 10:15 AM Great BS story though. If it had any truth to it, the dealership would have snagged that car right out from under you, so this is about a BS as it can possibly get. Once you threw the Supercharger story with the dealer, you gave the entire thing away. HAHA
StealthTL 03-26-2008, 10:22 AM The story-killer for me was the dyno sheet.
What Granny do you know, who would comprehend/understand/care w.t.f. a dyno sheet means?
S
(........as always, the above does NOT apply to Alma Gates, may god bless and preserve her!)
