Thought some of y'all might be interested in this page which details some of the finer points of the Subaru Impreza WRC2003 World Rally Championship car: http://www.swrt.com/newsletters/46/rally-versus-road.html

A couple of quick teasers to get you started: The roll cage uses 85 meters of tubing.
It can accelerate from 0-60 in 4.0 on any loose surface, and 3.2 on asphalt.
The tire bill can run up to £80 per competitive kilometer (that's over $200/mile)

FYI, Speed has WRC coverage as well as SCCA pro rally coverage on tonight at 9pm CST. If you've never seen a pro rally event check it out!

Thanks for the information. The first show (10 PM eastern) was a Rally XS - basically a summary of the last WRC rally (Cataluyna SP??). At 11PM, they showed the SCCA Lake Superior Rally where Higgins won. A great year for him and Mitsubishi as they dominated the driver's and manufacturers championships, respectively. :)

Don't miss Sunday night's Rally of Great Britain. Its the final rally of the WRC for the year and its so close between Loeb (63 points), Sainz (63 points) and Solberg (62 points) - native son Richard Burns (58 points) will unfortunately be out of commission due to an illness.

Also sister companies - Citroen (147 Points) and Puegot (142 points) should also provide an interesting manufacturers championship.

It will air on Sunday, November 9th at 9PM Eastern on the Speed Channel.

Yeah, I can't wait til Sun., it's like the freaking superbowl. I'm predicting Martin takes top spot in GB, damn that Focus is a fast car. Who takes home the championship will most likely come down to who has the best luck.

Go Petter! <hopes for lots of rain>

I can't wait for next year when Mitsubishi and Hyundai is back in it and some of the other teams get their problems sorted out.

is mitsubishi confirmed for return next year? they've pulled the evo out of wrc for like 2 years now? and that's both disturbing and disappointing

It will be back next year as far as I know. Its going to be a Lancer Evolution. I was hoping they would build a Colt Evolution and eventually bring it to the US.

Go Petter!Guess you must be a happy chappie then. :D

Planning on heading south of the border for Rally Mexico in March? I'm trying to interest a few of our local a/x folks in heading down for it.

It's very tempting, I guess it will all depend on how funds look as we get closer to the rally. And yes, I'm very happy, I think Petter is great for the sport and Subaru.

Me too. Though I would have liked to have seen a fair fight between him and Loeb without Guy bloody Frequelin's team orders.
