A friend claimed that the factory is offering $500 rebates. Is this factual? If yes, how do I learn more?

Not exactly factual, but sort of true. For buyers of the RX-8 who ordered or took delivery before Aug 26 (or around there), due to the revised HP rating of the RX-8 Mazda offered to either buy back their cars or give them $500 plus free maintenance for the warranty period. If you didn't order your RX-8 before Aug 26, you can't have the $500 because you would already know of or be told about the revised 238 HP.

Many of us here did receive the $500. It isn't a rebate offered on new RX-8s.
