Another dumb problem regarding a non starting car that's not related to flooding from a quick cold start.
When I drive the RX-8 and it's totally warm (needle @ 1/2 way on the dial), and I turn the car off, it will not turn on again until the car has cooled some, it cranks and gets to the threshold of starting(7-8 hundred RPM) but won't actually turn over (starts w/ a boost though)
Quick Recap of my car (bought used):

04 MT
63,000 km's
According to Mazda Canada all TSB's done

I've actually have less issues with cold starts then I do with this, but I always let the engine run for @ least 15 mins before shutting off

Edit: this should probably be in the issues forum, could someone move this??

Sounds like your battery may be weak, since it's not turning over fast enough and a boost does it just fine. And it's an 04, has the battery ever been replaced?

I have experienced the same problem. Turns out the starter motor was revised for the '04's and early build '05's. Here's the TSB.

Yes,I too have been having this issue with an 04 8. No problem with cold starts, just the warm re-starts like after stopping for more beer. I actually had to be towed to a dealer last week because it wouldn't start after stopping for gas. It killed the battery, but I am still having starting issues even with new battery.

This TSB seems to be for the cold start problem, not the warm start issue I have noted. I will be bringing a copy of this TSB when I have my snow tires off. Since it is snowing heavily here in VT, it may be another month before I can do that!

They updated the starter. If you don't have it go get it done. I'd get the new flash and cleaning procedure done. No start when hot was the beginning of the end for engine #1 for me.
