View Full Version : Sunroof!!!

If I get one of these things, I'll be coming out of a Miata, so I will need to feel the wind in my hair! I wonder if a big hole in the roof will not be possible because of the lack of B pillars? I haven't seen this issue mentioned anywhere. I think later in the year the 350Z will offer a sunroof.

Hi Spider-Ham,

You can see a picture of the rx-8 sunroof at the below link:

http://www.auto-web.co.jp/NEW_CAR/RX-8/02.html

Translation of the caption reads "Electromotive & sun roof of tilt rise sliding choice possibility. Opening a little balance as for the open impression the sufficient. The switch is located on the rearview mirror."

this isn't addressed in the FAQ??? maybe PatrickB should whip out his editting stick and add a small passage or two about suspected options/accessories...

we've seen pictorial evidence of sunroofs (sunrooves?? i don't think so...) in the RX-8, but of course we haven't anyone guaranteeing us anything yet, eh?? but it's quite possible.

the B-pillar IS still there, it's a pipe in the rear (i think) door that bolts into place when the door is closed and locked... so really, it's just a floating B-pillar. structurally, the chassis base is supposedly the best Mazda's ever come out with by leaps and bounds, so it's fairly safe to say that it'll be alright with a fair sized hole in the roof (considering we've seen pictures of this).

use the search feature and dig some stuff up: there's lots.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!

The issue of a sunroof is addressed in the FAQ. I didn't bother to check. Thanks!

I even remember reading somewhere about a future convertible model being possible ;)

Spider-Ham
do a search using sunroof and my user name and you should find several older threads where we discussed this ad nauseum. there will also be some other pics of earlier rx8's with sunroofs!

Man, Curtis Armstrong was on a roll with Better off Dead and the Nerd trilogy, then he got fat and ended up on "Moonlighting".

What this has to do with RX-8 Sunroof options I have not a clue. :D Lounge-time likely.

Issue 485 January 2003 of Car magazine, a European magazine sold in the US. You can see a that their red RX-8 they tested has a sunroof in it.

Is Ms. Barre standard with the 250 hp model and optional on the base model?

BTW, are those runflats she's got there...you know, cool to talk about and look at with your friends, but a little too stiff in the sidewalls for real good handling?

trust me, runflats don't give you ANY of the feedback real, soft sidewalls'll give you... i've tested some of those newfangled things, and had the real deal in all sizes, from econobox thin to monster truck wide, and nothing can compare. ;)

(btw, Ms. Barre gets a total thumbs down on my babe-o-metre...)
