View Full Version : The Eagle has landed! Contigo 11-06-2003, 04:26 AM Car arrived this morning at Newbury and it has got the Red and Black interior! Wohooo Pics to follow soon as I get down there! RobDickinson 11-06-2003, 04:57 AM Cool. But a pain, mine still hasnt shown its face! Time to run it in with a quick trip up to merseyside Phil! Contigo 11-06-2003, 05:03 AM Yeah but the annoying part is that I want it for the weekend. Trip to dealers at lunch. Sexy Rexy 11-06-2003, 05:11 AM Contingo, Congrats, look forward to seeing the pictures. Can you discretly find out for me when you are at Newbury when they expect to see my car? Cheers Mate. Contigo 11-06-2003, 06:01 AM Will do mate! mikegwyer 11-06-2003, 06:57 AM Still no sign of mine ( and, as there's been no call today and the lorry must have arrived ) I guess mine didn't arrive there today either. Given that the date I was given by Andy was that my car "should" have been with the dealer last Weds (30/10), with me today I'm now getting more hacked off than at any stage in the ordering process. HowTheF*** can they not know where/when the car is ? Seems unbelievable to me. Of course, as they're now actually taking in money ( albeit other people's money not mine ), the only person unhappy about my lack of car is me and, as we all know from the RX8 ordering experience to date, the customer being unhappy isn't important to Mazda. And this is the customer experience before they get our money ( you know, the part where they're supposed to be attentive and interested ) - god knows what will pass for after-sales service As for getting your car before the weekend - I have been consistently told the PDI is going to take a week. If you get yours turned around quicker than that I would love to hear ( and how you persuaded them to do it :) ) morganrogers 11-06-2003, 06:58 AM My car arrived Friday 31st of October. I picked it up Monday 3rd of November. So they only had 2 days with it (assuming they work saturday) Morgan. Contigo 11-06-2003, 07:01 AM My fave view Contigo 11-06-2003, 07:04 AM Try Again Contigo 11-06-2003, 07:05 AM one more Sexy Rexy 11-06-2003, 07:05 AM Mike, Peter has promissed to turn my car around within 48hrs of it arriving at Newbury - this includes fitting all accessories, but please do bear in mind that I was the first person to place an order directly with them and pay them the £1,000.00 deposit. And Peter does now that, so he will turn it around asap. Sexy Rexy 11-06-2003, 07:07 AM Contingo, Car looks fab!!!!!!!. How many more red where there?, any news for me mate? RobDickinson 11-06-2003, 07:08 AM Eeew, look ho wcommon red is, thats 3 all together just there! (/jelous mode off....) Contigo 11-06-2003, 07:11 AM There were four there! One car is not being rushed as the woman was called and informed NM that her finances weren't readY!!! Who in the right mind orders their car and doesn't want to pick it up? I forgot to ask Peter as he and I were very rushed. The guy who PDI's them is out so it's not looking good for me to have mine by Sat morn. Shame cos I have a White diary this weekend. Hang on in there mate. Oh and one other thing which you won't think is fair!. I asked Pete how he assesed them in terms of which car they PDI first and he said the order they come in. Now as I was about the 8th to order at Newbury (Feb 1st) I think it's only fair that they allocate them in that order. But the other two red which came in ordered after me! Weird innit! RobDickinson 11-06-2003, 07:14 AM So Mazda's stance on first order/first to get is complete boloxx all the way down the line then. They havnt even made a decent attempt at it. Sexy Rexy 11-06-2003, 07:21 AM Contingo, Thanks mate, did you notice if any had sat nav?, if they did I won't be a happy bunny:mad:   Contigo 11-06-2003, 07:55 AM Didn't get chance to look that far mate. Can you imagine if mine had Sat Nav? Sexy Rexy 11-06-2003, 07:58 AM Yeah, I would have been straight down there - AND I ASSURE YOU IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A PRETTY SITE - Only kidding, well done!!!!, check your pm - can you mail me the pic I have asked for. Cheers. Contigo 11-06-2003, 08:04 AM Rexy can you mail me your addy again mikegwyer 11-06-2003, 09:55 AM Originally posted by Sexy Rexy Mike, Peter has promissed to turn my car around within 48hrs of it arriving at Newbury - this includes fitting all accessories, but please do bear in mind that I was the first person to place an order directly with them and pay them the £1,000.00 deposit. OK, this is a tricky one to reply to without it sounding like a bitter and twisted rant, but I'll have a go :) This isn't a whinge about who's car will be available when, I would totally agree that the first person to order deserves to get their car asap. My annoyance is the level of customer service My car is now a week late against the date Newbury Mazda told me Newbury Mazda are either not able to say exactly where it is or when it will be there, but they'll "call me as soon as it's in" Newbury Mazda will then take 5 working days to do what most dealers are doing in 2 ( and which NM apparantly can do in 2 if they want to ) I've never owned a Mazda before, and I don't feel that I'd buy another. If they were hoping to see the halo effect of the RX-8 they've failed miserably - good car, useless company. Mazda UK/Newbury Mazda can count on me to be completely frank about what a pleasure it has been to pre-order an RX-8. morganrogers 11-06-2003, 10:20 AM That'll help residuals no end.... mikegwyer 11-06-2003, 10:24 AM Originally posted by morganrogers That'll help residuals no end.... It'll have as much effect as complaining to Mazda, none. The BMW dealers treat customers doesn't seem to harm residuals ... Edo 11-06-2003, 10:28 AM Sadly every manufacturer has good and bad dealers. Those are almost certainly the 2 red RX's I saw on the M4 ealier in the week... Sexy Rexy 11-06-2003, 10:28 AM Mike, I think it is fair for you to voice your opinions. I am in the same boat as you - 4 reds have turned up at Newbury today, apart from Contingo, they were all orderd late feb onwards. I don't want to sound boring, I orderd in Jan and will be one of the last this year to receive my car. There is nothing we can do about it? Contigo 11-06-2003, 10:37 AM Nothing apart from complain to the Japs! Sexy Rexy 11-06-2003, 10:40 AM Talking about complaining, where's my picture???? Edo 11-06-2003, 10:47 AM Is it my imagination, or is there condensation in the top of the headlights? Brooker 11-06-2003, 10:54 AM Looks like rain to me - if you look closely, the rest of the car seems to have a coat of drizzle. druck 11-06-2003, 11:03 AM mikegwyer the solution to your problems is not to buy a car before its in full production and shipping. If you want a smooth purchase wait for pre-order back log to clear and buy without the delays. If on the other hand you want the first vehicles to arrive in the UK, you have to expect production delays and confusion over shipping in the dealer network. Cheers ---Dave mikegwyer 11-06-2003, 11:08 AM Originally posted by mikegwyer Still no sign of mine ( and, as there's been no call today and the lorry must have arrived ) I guess mine didn't arrive there today either. Talk of the devil... My car is now here ( Thurs 6th 5pm ) and can be collected next Weds pm If only I'd kept that rant to myself for 2 hours longer ... :) :) :) mikegwyer 11-06-2003, 11:24 AM Originally posted by druck mikegwyer the solution to your problems is not to buy a car before its in full production and shipping. Cheers ---Dave I would agree that ordering a new car puts you at the mercy of Production delays. I'm not sure I agree that you have to accept "confusion over shipping in the dealer network" just because the car is a new model such as the RX-8. The car will have sat next to a 323 on the boat, gone through customs next to the 323, sat on the truck next to the 323 but we're all supposed to make allowances for them not knowing where the RX is because it's a new model. Would it also be unreasonable expecting them to know where my 323 is if I'd ordered one of them ? druck 11-06-2003, 02:44 PM Yes, but there are thousands of 323s floating around the supply chain, most of them are generic stock not ordered to an exact spec. They have much more flexibility to direct them to where they are selling. With the RX8, they have to get what is probably 6 months of a normal years production out to the dealers in a matter of a few weeks, all of which have been ordered to an exact spec. It is a bit of a logistical nightmare. However Mazda UK could do a lot better job of letting the dealers know what is happening. They seem to be relying on the computer system to find out, but without all the information such as the dates seem to be set too far in advance until the boat docks, and then are brought down as they pass through customs. Cheers ---Dave mikegwyer 11-06-2003, 03:11 PM Originally posted by druck However Mazda UK could do a lot better job of letting the dealers know what is happening. Cheers ---Dave Yes, I think this is the bit I've found most frustrating - that a vast multinational corporation appears incapable of keeping 1000 customer order records in a database accurate and up to date and available via the web to pre-order customers. I got the impression the US pre-order program went a whole lot better - not perfect, but a whole lot better. Anyway, just to prove how fickle customers can be, I will now stop whinging, keep counting down the hours till Wednesday afternoon and then start singing the praises of what I hope will prove to be the most enjoyable car I've ever owned :) Mike. Contigo 11-06-2003, 03:22 PM Nice one Mike! SexyWrexy I asked you to send me you Email addy! I totally agree. And the fact that they can't seem to get on to their computer system at the weekends (certainly Sun), despite the fact that most dealerships seem to be open on both Sat and Sun is pathetic! Contigo 11-07-2003, 09:59 AM Well It's ready for tomorrow at 1pm.
