View Full Version : Rx-8 test drive on TSN Motoring 2004
Mr. Eccentric 11-04-2003, 05:04 PM Just caught the tail end of the show. Scored very well in the points tally (usually they're pretty conservative with the ratings)
5 out of 5 on ride/handling and value for money
4 out of 5 on performance and all other catagories
The Red 0ne 11-04-2003, 05:12 PM Awesome ratings! :)
Any links to the write out?
Evolv 11-06-2003, 08:10 PM See it again or catch it for the first time

wakeech 11-07-2003, 03:22 AM hooooooooly freakin' crap... the best automotive journalistic TV show today, easily.
Mr. Fletcher NEVER scores 5/5's unless he's completely blown away, and he's got very high expectations.
great news :)
mdmaclean 11-07-2003, 09:11 AM I have captured the video, and if someone has hosting I could put it up.
ScottySilver8 11-07-2003, 03:21 PM Thanks for the tip regarding tonight's show - I'll definitely tune in. TSN, I assume?
BTW, I ran into Jim Kenzie in the Boston airport last month. We got talking about my RX-8 -- he's very impressed with the car, and he emphasized that he's rarely impressed with anything! He also said that Laurance Yap couldn't stop talking about it ...

It was on very early this morning, 12:00AM....
Gord96BRG 11-07-2003, 11:13 PM It's on again Monday morning very early - check the schedule, and set your VCRs on Sunday night!!
73JPS 11-11-2003, 12:23 AM Well, I stayed up to watch that. I have always liked Graeme Fletcher's reviews, and this one was very good.
I have a question for you guys though: how many people find the speedo hard to read? Fletcher complained about that.
I think that Consumer Reports got it right in their latest review when they said that they would have preferred a proper analogue speedo because it would have been more intuitive ... but as far as it being something that doesn't work very well, as Fletcher indicated, I gotta disagree with that.
So, the question is: now that you are used to it, how do you like the speedo?
Took me all of 2 seconds to get use to it. I love it.
Jasper_the_2nd 11-11-2003, 07:52 AM The first couple of weeks it bugged me. Not so much the having to fact that it was digital, but I kept catching the flicker of the numbers changing out of the corner of my eye and thinking that I had a blinker on or something. Now that I'm used to it it doesn't bother me.
In fact, I started driving my MX-3 again this weekend (there was a chance of snow) and now I find it a pain to have to read the analog speedo.
Can someone post the video if you have it recorded?
I wish that I've have seen it and would like to have a copy anyway.
Thank you!!!
:)
Redshift 11-11-2003, 10:06 AM Sportbikes have had a digital speedo w/ analog tach for years, so I was already used to it when I got my car.
ScottySilver8 11-11-2003, 12:37 PM I also stayed up to watch ... it was worth it!
I don't have any problem with the digital speedometer. The only issue I've had with the speedo was when I first drove my car off the dealer lot - I thought I was going pretty quick, but looked down and it only said 97. Then I realized the speedo was set in MPH!!
