Has anyone purchased a car cover for their 8? I like the OEM one available in the States and I suppose Japan but it seems very pricey. I know, what accessory isn't?
Has anyone got the OEM one or an aftermarket one they're happy with. Please post your comments. Thanks.

Hi broose. I'm also looking for a cover. I am thinking about parking it outside over the winter. Will a cover provide enough protection from weathering? Or should I take other precautions?

Thanks Gyro. I like the OEM one but will be storing my car in my garage so don't know if I need the whole "StormShield" thing. Is the cover supposed to be good for dust protection as well as water? I was hoping someone might have some experience with a different cover and offer their comments. Anyone? Bueller?

Avoid storing the car outside over the winter if at all possible.
Most of the winter damage to a car is from the moisture that totally takes over the car.
The cover will protect the paint, thats it. Outside it will still get condensation, cold, and the moisutre leaching up through the ground.

The car is fine in the cold as long as it's dry. You'd probably be better off driving it this winter (at least that would warm up the car and dry it out) then you would be parking it.

Don't store the car outside at all cost. If you do you will probably be looking at replacing all the brake rotors next summer. I make a point of driving my winter car which is kept outside at least once a week all summer to keep the "lot rot" at bay. The rear rotors go very quickly and don't self grind themselves back into a usable state as well as the fronts because of the lower braking forces. I have much more experience with Audis and their rear brake components there are much more expensive than the fronts. The brakes are so massive by comparison on the 8 that I shudder to think about what the components are worth, don't do it . . .

i store mine in my car port and i have no problem o yah i live in the good old west no crap snow :D

Ha!Canzoomer replied on Monday: None nada, not any--yet.

A car port would be fine . . . What you don't want to do is leave the car out in the elements for months without being driven. Rain and snow will repeatedly wet the rotors and they will get severly pitted and covered with scale, eventually it will rip the pad linings off, been there . . . You can see the rotors on the 8 rusting literally within minutes after washing the car. That's completely normal and a necessary trade-off related to heat dissipation.
