My car was due to be delivered on the 2nd November and has not yet arrived.

My dealer’s staff, lovely people, have no idea where it is and it seems no inclination to try and find out.

I just wondered if anyone else was experiencing similar problems?

I apologise now for the fairly negative tone of this post, but as my original delivery date was due to be 26th Oct, then 29th Oct and then 2nd Nov, my patience is well and truly being tested.

It's bizarre (but not entirely unexpected given Mazda UK's handling of this exercise) that some people are waiting after their delivery date and others seem to be getting them weeks early.

The problem I think you will find is the following - this is my own opinion, all of the pre-order cars pretty much left within a week or so of each other (Hi Power), they have travelled from japan to rotterdam on a boat(S), they must have about 1500 cars to clear through customs, bearing in mind they had to get all the dealer cars ready for last week. Some people were lucky that their cars got shipped over with the dealer cars. They can not ship over all of the remaining cars at the same time for the reason they could not handle (clear through customs) 1000 + cars. So it stands as if your car is cleard via customs, it will leave on a boat for the UK. I hope I am correct - my car could hopefully be with me any day now!!!!!!!

The worst of it is that there appears to be nothing anyone can do about it.

Cars have arrived there already that were not due until next week and yet mine is lost in transit somewhere. Its status has been "loaded" meaning it is with the distributor since about the 24th October, whilst the cars that have arrived weren't even at that stage.

I am just completely and utterly p****d off.

If you hypothosis is correct (and I know you have some insider info ;) ) then it means the estimated delivery dates by Mazda are as much use as sticking your finger in the wind!

Mate,

I do agree with you being pissed off. However car's that have arrived a week early could be good news for others. I was one of the original crew that orderd in Jan2003, was told that I would have the car in Nov, then 05/12/03, now it is back to November. I wouldn't be pleasntly supprised if your dealer rang you in the next few days telling you your car is ready to collect!!!, hang in there, I was so tempted to cancell a few times, but the 8 is a truly exeptional car + a real head turner!!!!!!!

I think that the delivery dates are useless. Your car is just going to turn up this month some time....

Chris,

I know it's no consolation but may be worth asking Mazda a question.

There is a Black Hi-Power at my Dealers and the Customer has cancelled his order. My Dealer is furious abut your spec and avialable.

Cheers
Simon

I think mine is lost in the post too;) sorry couldn't resist that one.

I was either the first or the second to order from my dealer in Jan, but I know for a fact that at least 6 people will get theirs before me because I had a look round the back of the dealers the other day when I spoke to them about extras and there were 5 reds and one silver there but no Titanuim that I ordered.

Oh well.

I visited the dealer today as they had not returned my phone calls.
Yes they had a demonstrator and I could have a test drive.
When is my wife's car due "Don't know"
Out to the compound to go into the demonstator I ask how many Titanium/Cloth Seats have you got on order. "Oh only yours"..... "So what is that one over there"
"That must be yours!"
"When did it come in?" "Oh last week"
With that I was speechless!!!!!!

Chris: report this idiot to Mazda UK immediately and formally complain. That is abysmal treatment. If they tried that with me they'd never hear the last of it.

My car was due ('guaranteed delivery to dealer date' as my dealer once described it) yesterday (to make the date given as the 9th) and its whereabouts are still unknown. The constant dashing of my expectations is ruining this experience. This should be a pleasant time not bloody TORTURE! Buying this car has been one of the most negative experiences of my life and purely because of Mazda's incompetence. I don't care who thinks I'm whinging: those are the facts. Yes, once I eventually get my RX-8 I'll forget about all of this and revel in the luxury but nothing can take away the shitty way I'm feeling NOW and that's Mazda's fault.

I feel the same way Lensman - I know I'll forget it all as soon as the car arrives but their inability to tell me where mine is when everyone around me seems to be getting theirs even if they ordered after me really riles. :(

Thank god I've been on holiday and off-line for the past week. All I could do was think about how MY BOAT was getting ever closer and I was sure that hundreds of RX-8's were being delivered to happy new owners all over the country. :)

Seems that only tens of RX-8's have been delivered to new owners this week, but .... in a positive vein: The floodgates should now really open.

I'm expecting half a dozen new owners to be posting their pictures every day from now on (or maybe I'm just daydreaming again).

Let's all stay positive as Mazda do seem to have started to get a grip on the process. :)

I wondered where you were Mr Digital!!!

U wanna come round for a spin in mine???? Thats not meant as a rub nose in thing but a genuine offer. Less stress or rushed than at a dealers...
