View Full Version : Abandon RX-7
subzer0 03-02-2008, 07:01 PM Well guys I don’t know if you can help me out but I have been eyeing this rx7 for about a year. I have left notes on the car and knocked on all of the neighbors doors. No one knows who the car belongs to…I am in the process of applying for an abandon title from Dmv the weird thing is the car has Georgia plates but is in New York so it might be stolen it any one ever do any thing like this?
Mazurfer 03-02-2008, 07:50 PM What..........steal a car and leave it in another state?
Not that I will admit to!
People do it down here after Hurricanes with boats that brake away from moorings and end up somewhere else, but that works differently.
Good Luck and let us know what happens!
nycgps 03-02-2008, 08:04 PM really? hmm ...
sounds like fun, I didnt know u can do that !
let us know what happen please !
subzer0 03-02-2008, 08:15 PM I definitely will keep you posted…I just hope the car wasn’t registered in Georgia so I don’t have to deal with there dmv…Hopefully I will be able to get this 93 rx7 for free
alnielsen 03-02-2008, 08:15 PM If it is stolen, even with a new title, they could take it away if it's found out. Have the local police run a check on the VIN and see if there is any problems with the car. Could you be charged with Recieving Stolen Property? I don't know.
subzer0 03-02-2008, 08:24 PM I would be doing this through DMV I'm sure they would run the VIN before they handed over the title
some marine has it in storage, and will get back and kick your ass.
subzer0 03-02-2008, 08:55 PM on the street
Fortunate Few 03-02-2008, 09:08 PM whaaat an fd? who would leave one of those to rott. Take pics.
subzer0 03-02-2008, 09:09 PM yea I know I will try tomorrow...Its not in that bad shape it was sitting for a year you think it runs
whitebeau 03-02-2008, 11:09 PM best of luck... Hopefully it doesn't reak of rotting flesh when they open it up... if it does, let us know which news channel covers it :)
I want an rx7... :D:
N rider89 03-02-2008, 11:13 PM yea I know I will try tomorrow...Its not in that bad shape it was sitting for a year you think it runs
it may run, i would take it to a rotary shop to get a complete assessment if you get it.
CyberPitz 03-02-2008, 11:22 PM Wish I could find me an FD just lying around...would be a great collection with my FCs :D
Rootski 03-02-2008, 11:32 PM You and me both, Cyber.
IcarusX8 03-02-2008, 11:48 PM Curiosity... where exactly is it?? In the street, some park, shipyard?
nycgps 03-03-2008, 12:20 AM yea I know I will try tomorrow...Its not in that bad shape it was sitting for a year you think it runs
lol
Have you been watching news lately ? you know how fuxk up NYC cops and DMVs are ?
Some dude, he got a car from an *suppose to be police auction* of some abandon car, the dude bid and got it for 4 grand, even got a title from DMV, 2 months later they tow his car away cuz it was *stolen property* and it was returned to the original owner. The dude lost 4 grand and didnt get crap. Cuz its like a loophole in the system. Funny thing was, the car was listed as *stolen* on carfax MONTHS ago. wow, what kind of fuxking database does Police and DMV use ?
another one I just saw it on Fox last week I think, the dude's car been stolen for months, cops said they never found the car, but one day the dude past by some police compound, the car actually sits RIGHT IN THERE. He was mad pissed and called that Shame Shame Shame thing on Fox, they question the cops there they simply speechless. it was funny as hell when u saw all those donut eating fat fucks are speechless.
So u gotta be real careful.
subzer0 03-03-2008, 08:04 AM yea I'm going to have the police. Run the vin for me...If it does come back stolen is there any way I can still get it...to answer the question above me it's on a suburban steet like in front of a house and yes I knocked their door lol
CyberPitz 03-03-2008, 10:48 AM If it's stolen, you might be able to find the owners, and pay them a small fee for it, since they obviously don't give two shits about it. Otherwise, not much you can do for it.
Ericok 03-03-2008, 11:27 AM Have it towed to a friendly lot for some "violators towed at owner's expense" reason. Run up a big storage tab. Sieze it for non-payment and auction it off to yourself. Problem solved.
subzer0 03-03-2008, 12:34 PM Does anyone on here have unlimited car fax searches so I can pm you the vin
Detrich 03-03-2008, 01:17 PM pix?
Renesis07 03-03-2008, 03:42 PM Im really excited to see how this turns out!! lol.
dmc27 03-03-2008, 04:08 PM I would be doing this through DMV I'm sure they would run the VIN before they handed over the title
 I was thinking the same thing NY mentioned. If you think the DMV would do any kind of VIN check you're sadly mistaken. Hell, the DMV here in RI couldn't even match up a woman collecting welfare with the Posche Cayenne she had registered from her drug ring!!
subzer0 03-03-2008, 04:14 PM I am going to go by the car tonight after work to take some pics hopefully its not to dark I will post them up later
DOMINION 03-03-2008, 06:32 PM Well guys I don’t know if you can help me out but I have been eyeing this rx7 for about a year. I have left notes on the car and knocked on all of the neighbors doors. No one knows who the car belongs to…I am in the process of applying for an abandon title from Dmv the weird thing is the car has Georgia plates but is in New York so it might be stolen it any one ever do any thing like this?
Run the plates or vin # with the DMV to see if the car is stolen. If its not have it towed to your place and file a 7 surrounding state. If nothing comes back, you can claim ownership. Dont know about your state but thats how it works in LV NV.
Ross_Dawg 03-03-2008, 06:50 PM ^ yep, does sound a little sketchy though...
CyberPitz 03-04-2008, 01:56 PM Probably massive amounts of drugs stored in there by the cops, waiting for someone to take it so they can bust you!
Ok, that's the paranoia talking, but you never know!
subzer0 08-07-2008, 03:55 PM So I have been trying to get this car for months now and just been getting the run around no one knows really what to do... the car has racked up a couple of tickets recently and I don't want the car to be towed and auctioned off any ideas?
04RX8man 08-07-2008, 04:03 PM the police need to b contacted and have them run the vin and plates to see whose it is then contact that person(if it's registered to someone) then go from there ...if it's still there for some reason you just need to figure out y it's there
subzer0 08-07-2008, 04:18 PM when I went there today I was told to "Make the car magicaly disappear"
Deathcraft 08-07-2008, 04:31 PM hey...look!! a floating castle in the sky!!!
quazmosis 08-07-2008, 04:32 PM ^ the po po said that?
quazmosis 08-07-2008, 04:33 PM If the police said to magically make is disapear I'd say its yours.
subzer0 08-07-2008, 04:38 PM Thats what they said but how do I get the title on a car I basically stole
quazmosis 08-07-2008, 04:43 PM oh boy. I'm not sure on that. That's funny the police told you that. Scratch the VIN off, and just say you had to do it because you wanted to lose some weight on the car? Those metal filings weigh a gram?
04RX8man 08-07-2008, 04:47 PM ^haha yeah for real....i would get them to get a written letter saying thatyou shoud take the car and always always keep it with you then go straight to a paint shop and paint it just 2 b sure haha...if the po po said that i would say that it is yours becxause that means they can't find any name on it or a report that it is stollen...
quazmosis 08-07-2008, 04:50 PM ^ that's not a bad idea if they'd do it for you.
dozer 08-07-2008, 04:54 PM We Demand Pics! Now!
subzer0 08-07-2008, 04:59 PM Im still going to try and get it the legal way if all else fail I will make it disappear
nycgps 08-07-2008, 06:46 PM Where is the car anyway? NYC area ?
I want to come take a look at that sucker.
04RX8man 08-07-2008, 07:46 PM yeah we want to see it NOW!!!! Def the legal way is first but if that cannot b done and they say make it disappear then do it haha

I got these a few times, they are pretty funny lol!
they say the guy had the same first name and that is how we are related, and he wants to give me millions!!! Llast time I checked it was last name that showed relation.
Get some pictures up, I would keep on them before it gets towed!!!
jones75254 08-08-2008, 07:31 AM We want pics as it sets right now, this is very interesting.
I say it is against Rotary Law to let this car be towed away and rott in an impound lot. It is your DUTY to get it towed to a location of your chosing from where you can give it a warm and loving home....you must save the rotary.
There ARE ways (that are in and of themselves not necessarily legal) to deal with any legal issues u may come across in the future, but thats up to you:)
nvrfalter 08-08-2008, 07:44 AM if u cant do it legally, just rebuild it COMPLETELY. nobody asks questions about a car if youve dropped 15k on it. and then by that time its only trackable anyway, no street driving.
KoDeD 08-08-2008, 10:51 AM Still want pics!!!
subzer0 08-08-2008, 11:12 AM wait about 30 min
ken-x8 08-08-2008, 11:23 AM Odd that the police - or the neighbors - wouldn't care about a car sitting there that long.
There was a similar tale in Road and Track a while back. A guy saw a BMW 507 parked in the same spot for some time. He left a note saying he was interested in it. He got a call from the police, who had been checking into the abandoned car and found his note. Turned out it was stolen, and the owner had been paid off by the insurance company. He got in touch with the insurance company, bought it from them, and restored it.
Hope that eventually someone in authority will care, and you get a similar outcome.
Ken
subzer0 08-08-2008, 11:29 AM A couple of vin checks later the car is not reported stolen and was in one accident in Florida in 1993 must have been when the car was brand new…Quick question does any one know how to decode the FD’S vin
dmc27 08-08-2008, 12:30 PM Check the laws w/your local DMV. After a certain # of years no title is required to register a vehicle in some states.
The police would never, ever, under any circumstances give you some written "go steal it" statement. lol. But that should mean it has no reports on it and is considered abandoned. See if there are any laws regarding abandoned vehicles in your state. If it's there long enough it may be legal to just take it.
rddragoness 08-08-2008, 12:37 PM Patience is the key to success! ;) Hang in there, and good luck!

Mostly correct spelling on a Nigerian scam? Good effort but, B-.
:lol2:
dozer 08-08-2008, 12:48 PM and still no pics......fail....all this is, is a hoax
RIWWP 08-08-2008, 01:01 PM This RX-7 is abandoned in NY I understand?
http://law.onecle.com/new-york/vehicle-and-traffic/VAT01224_1224.html
I just dug up NY law on abandoned vehicles. Nowhere in the (i found) law does it specify anyone other than the 'controlling authority' to take possession of an abandoned vehicle from it's abandoned location. It appears that in order for you to get the car, you would have to push the PD to seize it as abandoned, then buy it off of them.
Granted, I could easily see them circumventing the additional cost to them of towing and storing it, by just letting you take it or pay for it right there, but there is nothing in the law that covers that.
You also said 'for the past year', so it counts as abandoned as per the law:
§ 1224. Abandoned vehicles. 1. A motor vehicle shall be deemed to be an abandoned vehicle if left unattended
(a) with no number plates affixed thereto, for more than six hours on any highway or other public place;
(b) for more than twenty-four hours on any highway or other public place, except a portion of a highway or public place on which parking is legally permitted;
(c) for more than forty-eight hours, after the parking of such vehicle shall have become illegal, if left on a portion of a highway or public place on which parking is legally permitted;
(d) for more than ninety-six hours on property of another if left without permission of the owner.
...if it is also correct that it does not belong to anyone that lives where it is parked. If it is parked on someone's property, and not public property, then you would have to get that individual to call it in as abandoned.
I can't locate any online resource that allows you to run GA plates and get owner information...
Maybe someone here that lives in GA could go to the DMV and request owner information for you?
SilverHokie 08-08-2008, 02:43 PM This is one of the most interesting threads I read in a while...
This is what the Delaware DMV does...it is how we Delawarians obtain the coveted 4 digit and 3 digit tag numbers....the police department registers the old VIN number on the car...then creates a SECOND VIN# that is placed over the old VIN inside of the door panel...it officially says "State Police VIN" on the tag...your pretty much good to go then.
SHOW US PICS!!!!!

hough2696 08-08-2008, 03:03 PM Class of 07....Kids, too dumb to know what they have...
Migi'sBatmobile 08-08-2008, 03:08 PM Why don't you go to hofstra, since it has the sticker on it they may be able to tell you who the owner is, just tell them that they parked in a way that they are blocking your driveway or something.......
quazmosis 08-08-2008, 03:38 PM My question is are you washing that car? Its pretty clean for being there over a year. That looks in pretty good shape if you could land that. Nice find!
subzer0 08-08-2008, 03:45 PM Why don't you go to hofstra, since it has the sticker on it they may be able to tell you who the owner is, just tell them that they parked in a way that they are blocking your driveway or something.......
This Might be my next step
subzer0 08-08-2008, 03:46 PM My question is are you washing that car? Its pretty clean for being there over a year. That looks in pretty good shape if you could land that. Nice find!
Its been through rain and snow and thats how it looks Its South Carolina Not Georgia sorry about that.
robrecht 08-08-2008, 03:57 PM Damn, free FD, free BMW 507, how come I never find any free sports cars in my neighborhood. 507 is just about my favorite car of all time BTW.
quazmosis 08-08-2008, 04:10 PM Speaking of that I can't remember where I parked my Aston Martin. So if anyone sees an abandoned one its most likely mine.
SilverEIGHT 08-08-2008, 05:35 PM OMG, you found my car! Dang it! the GA State Patrol and the Sherifs dept. have been looking for that car for a long freaking time. I gave up on it. Thanks man, I'll give you a six pack when I come up go get it. How about an address? :D:
Snakebite202 08-08-2008, 05:40 PM Actually, that's not a GA tag - it's a South Carolina tag. I know, I lived there for almost two years.
I smell some BS.........
XRX8X 08-08-2008, 05:48 PM you guys are funny as hell!i would check the local laws and dmv then try and contact the owner but hope he or she did not go over seas and did not return and maybe some famaly member is looking and/or hoping to find there kids car!just me 2 bits...check around someone knows something as always!
subzer0 08-08-2008, 06:02 PM Actually, that's not a GA tag - it's a South Carolina tag. I know, I lived there for almost two years.

04RX8man 08-08-2008, 08:43 PM is that a 2007 thing on the mirror that means that the owner/girlfriend graduated either college or highschool in 07
subzer0 08-08-2008, 08:47 PM yeah college theres Hofstra stickers on the car
snowflakes 08-11-2008, 04:00 PM so whatz the new update on this "FD" conboy?
alz0rz 08-11-2008, 05:31 PM that looks too damn clean.. i notice you're taking pics of this in your car... do you live where you can see the car in plain sight from your house?
what if the owner just uses the car when you're not looking..?
snowflakes 08-11-2008, 07:52 PM take a pic of his brake rotors, that'll answer everythingg.
Rust=sitting for long time with out use.
No rust= You're just living in fairy land.
take them pics conboy
Ryan2008 08-11-2008, 08:03 PM Too good to be true. Don't get your hopes up too much when you come to find out that someone does own it. I agree with a lot of people here saying it's too clean to not be someone's. I'm also thinking it might be a college students or something who couldn't take it with them.
I mean if it is up for grabs, congrats, but don't get too hyped up over something that might be too good to be true. I also agree with snowflakes ^^^ take a pic of the rotors so we can see if it's been used recently. If it has rained and snowed, that will tell all. They should be rusted to hell after a year of that crap. A lot of rotors get rusty after even a couple days of rain...
nycgps 08-11-2008, 08:33 PM I say the owner probably pass away, or just out of the country for "insert reason here" without knowing people can "salvage" their car like that.
but dont expect to get this car for free, when the cops take it away, they probably gonna auction it off.
PM me the location. I get people to salvage it. I know lawyers :)
rddragoness 08-11-2008, 09:19 PM Can anyone say car theft ring bait? Why else would the cops tell him to "make it disappear"....
superglue 08-11-2008, 09:51 PM Can anyone say car theft ring bait? Why else would the cops tell him to "make it disappear"....
Entrapment FTW!!!
alz0rz 08-11-2008, 10:11 PM so what happened to the tickets you said it piled up? in that picture I see maybe one item on the windshield and it doesn't look like a ticket...
Rx807 08-12-2008, 01:36 AM hmm :)
snowflakes 11-18-2008, 12:42 PM So umm, did you ever claim the car after all this time.....? dot dot dot?
NO updates?
ShinkaTeen 11-18-2008, 12:56 PM its probably an autobot just on duty. ......
nvrfalter 11-18-2008, 01:11 PM this is so sketch its not even funny
otakurx 11-18-2008, 02:21 PM the owner prob came and took it. haha either that or someone beat him to it.
But it could be abandoned but I doubt it. Car fax it, check for signs that it's been sitting. A quick call to the state in which it's registered would answer all questions. Call the DMV there report that it has been left on your property and would like to contact the owner of the vehicle to have it moved.
Juansito 11-18-2008, 02:33 PM I would have stolen it already.
SilverHokie 11-18-2008, 04:20 PM Damn this is one of the best threads on the forum with no ending in sight.
SIGH.
otakurx 11-19-2008, 09:13 AM What's the address, I'll freakin take it and tow it to NH hahaha
9krpmrx8 11-19-2008, 10:03 AM was funny as hell when u saw all those donut eating fat fucks are speechless.
One of those donut eating fat fucks may save your life or a family members some day so how about you show some fucking respect, dumbfuck.
Good luck on the RX7, did you ever get it?.
Potentiated 11-19-2008, 06:11 PM Oh my, this is starting to get fun.
Spoolin8 11-19-2008, 06:29 PM some poor college kid probably got that car passed down for graduation and is currently studying at west point and is going to come back to find out his prized possession has been stolen ;)
Brian Major 11-19-2008, 11:43 PM i work for the dmv, most states have a lein sale program to remove cars like this from the street. problem is, this program is for low value vehicles. Solution? Claim the car as a low value car, shit it prob doesn't run so you could claim its a shell. Do the necessary paperwork, DMV handles it for you and sends it back to you. You'll have to contact the owner by mail then 30 days later, that sweet FD is yours!!
DOOOOO EEEEEEEET
ILoveFI 11-20-2008, 03:58 AM Theres a WB 8 that never moves that is on my route to school. It has moved once the entire year. :rofl I would have stolen it by now since it has nice rims.
greg985 11-20-2008, 08:47 AM You'll have to contact the owner by mail then 30 days later, that sweet FD is yours!!
hes tried to contact the owner with no luck
zoom44 11-20-2008, 10:53 AM no he didnt -he asked around but never found who the owner was. then he ran the vin through carfax which doesnt give you owner contact info.
kersh4w 11-20-2008, 11:21 AM i'd do brian's suggestion.
saxdogg 11-20-2008, 12:45 PM One of those donut eating fat fucks may save your life or a family members some day so how about you show some fucking respect, dumbfuck.
Good luck on the RX7, did you ever get it?.
   I know, I was going to offer to run the plates and check stolens until I read that orig. post...LOL.
After seeing pics, that car's not abandoned.
snowflakes 11-22-2008, 04:02 AM WHEN WAS THIS GUYS LAST POST OR LOGIN, Mods??? SON OF A BYTCH LEFT US ON THREAD....LITERALLY!

Potentiated 11-22-2008, 04:14 AM Looks like the OP might have played a prank on us.
Renesis07 11-22-2008, 08:06 AM Thats retarded. A good thread left to die.
