My dealer suggested that technically the sport exhaust is completely different to the standard unit. They ordered a unit in for the demonstrator vehicle (which I drove) and from a performance view, according to Mazda Techinical the performance increase is marginal between 3-5% (7-12 bhp). Fuel consumption they cannot comment on as Mazda have not run a unit with a
sport exhaust. They are going to be doing some monitoring of consumption over the next few months and will be able to compare that the Mazda's standard consumption figures.

Is this exhaust available on US cars - might be worth asking the US boys. 7-12bhp might be worth it.

Weird, cause my dealer said that it doesn't make any difference to the performance, just the exhaust note... as per usual a nice consistent Mazda for us...!

I'm not sure who to beleive but the sound alone and larger bore is enough for me.
