Are the 2004 Mazda RX8?s considered a collectors item because it's the first year released. What factors are included in understanding a collector?s item?
Obviously some are?
-First year released
-Amount produced
-KM or Miles on the car ?.
What other factors determine if it?s a collectors item ???

Time will tell. If, 25 years from now the 2004 RX-8 is rare or particularly desirable, then it'll be considered a collector's item. Almost no new cars, especially mass produced ones like the RX-8 are considered collector items. It's only if they were built in extremely small quantities (like 100 or less), and/or are extremely expensive, that they have a chance of being considered a collector's item.

one day it will be a collector, especially if the Renesis fails to really take off on the market. Hopefully it will be integrated to other cars though.
With a production of nearly 30k coming to the US in the first year alone it's highly unlikely.

They made of lot of first and second generation RX-7s. Ask yourself if you think a 1979 or 1986 RX-7 is a collector car since they were first model year cars.

On older cars, very early or very late production models are more valuable, also with rare options or option packages.
