Why does this forum need to utilize porno ads on their banners? Now I can't even look at the damn site without watching over my back...between kids and wife they're bound to see....

Moderators, how about ridding the site of the scum and let those that want to search for porn go to their favorite freebie porn site!

Really? In the Banner at the top? I have never noticed that. I thought Vivid Racing was it........maybe something new. I would be upset to see that also.....and I have no kids.

This could be right. I use ad aware and love it. It's free and removes all kinds of hidden garbarge. To get it, google "ad aware lavasoft".

Maybe he means some of the user's "tag lines" that have women in them. In a working environment, I can understand his point of view.

That's why I have mine hidden in my tag line, if you cross your eyes you will see a nice set of breasts.. Yippee..!

If you are using IE - Clear your cache (history) and clear your cookies, then follow whoever's advice it was about running ad-aware.
Then see if you still get the popups

It definitely sounds like spyware. My friend came to me for help with this problem last month or so. I had him run the latest version of adaware (great program, I recommend taking the time to download it), but it still didn't remove some of the spyware that was causing pop-up ads. Soooo, my advice to you is after running adaware, bring up your task manager (ctrl + alt + del) and look at the processes you have running in the background. The program causing the pop-up ads will be one of the items in that list. If you're not very windows saavy, it'll be hard to spot the suspect process, so if ya want you can post a reply with the process list and I'll help you spot it.

edit: forgot to mention - Also, do like someone mentioned and clear your browser's cache and cookies first, then run adaware, then check the process list.

If I may suggest instead of adaware, use Spybot search and Destroy by Pepkin software. It's free, protects against a lot more stuff and works much better IMHO. Just do the online update, then immunize, then scan. Might have to reboot for a second scan if there is a lot, but once you do this it will clean everything out.

I third the recommendation for Firebird (the browser, not the car).

It blocks pop-ups, you can block banner ads, manage cookies and kill Flash crap. It is highly configurable and actually complies with web standards. Once you go Firebird, you'll never go back to IE.
