My right tail light has lots of condensation in it. Also, I just took it to the car wash and it seems to have filled up a bit with water. I've noticed this problem in some other RX-8s I've seen on the road. Is this a manufacturer defect? Suggestions? I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to cars. Thanks.

If your car is still under warranty, the dealership will fix it. its a common problem, and its a bad gasket in the housing that needs replacing. search for more info

it's a common problem on older 8's

search and you'll find the TSB about it

dealer should replace them for you

If you warranty is still valid go there while the condensation is still there. If the dealer doesn't see it they might not order you a new one.

minotavr, is it possible to order a new gasket for the tailight? I'm on my 2nd tail light and I'm out of warranty period.

Of course it is, unfortunately I can't give you the code# for the gasket. But any dealer should know that.

If your 8 is not under warranty then you can buy the gasket and do it yourself.

My tail light did the same thing. I bought the Mazda gasket, which is stupid expensive, It is just a bit thicker than the original which is just a piece of foam of some sort .Most likely the water is running in at the top of the tail light right below where the water drains off the trunk lid. There is good info on how to remove the tail light right here on the forum. Take it out , dry the water out . I used compressed air, but there are other ways. Get you some clear silicone sealer and put a small bead of the silicone on the rear panel where the gasket contacts the panel.Put your tail light back in and no more water. Hope this helps .

.....so far.

just get the gasket from finishline. the hole might seem to help but it does not fix the problem which is the gasket.
