Tire kingdom minions did a assanine mistake last week , I went to get a allignment and wheel balance... well they broke one of my studs by not checking the direction on there air gun, well when the fool put the air gun on the lug nut , he hit the triggger and the gun was set to tighten , he broke the locking lug nut in half and cracked the shaft of the locking key, but thank god he didn't strip the key itself! :Eyecrazy:
Long story short they said the last guy who installed the wheels , over tighten them. Well i blew there story wide open when i told them that i just installed brakes on this car the week before and the wheels came off easy as pie and tighten them to spec with a torque wrench, plus why did the other 3 wheels come off fine? No awnswer, but silence.... I was furious and told them they should keep there day job , because they suck at lieing as there side job. They were quiet, and i put there heads down again. The manager was deeply sorry and offered to pay for the stud and a new set of locking lug nuts for all 4 wheels. But here is the kicker , i would have to pay $80 bucks for labor to put the new stud back on.
F-that! I grabbed my key and told them they would never touch my ride again!
This past weekend.
I changed the stud myself, it was a pain in the ass! Took about 1 hour to drill out the old stud, i knicked my custom rims, i was so pissed! But on top of that i finally got the wheel off after 2hours Yeah and as I examined my rim , Dick head had his gun on set to tighten , the lug nut was burried at least 2mm deep into the seat of the stud shaft!
Removed the brakes, took the HUB nut off , the big sucker with the Key! But the hub did not come off, i was stumped for 45 minutes trying to figure out how in the hell does the Hub come off?! I realize that i may need a puller, so i improvized and bent the aluminum brake flange as much as possible, I put the lug in there and tapped the new lug until it went through. I damaged the thread on the new stud, so i re threaded the new stud , it was good as new.Reversed my job and put the wheel back on, good as new.
But my question to you Rotary heads, how in the hell do you take off the hub ? I cheated to get the stud on , but there has to be some way to take the hub out properly just incase i have to take it off for the future. Your info is needed, plus i am curious!
