We meet on the second Saturday of every month. at the same place every time to make it easier.
The meeting place is Pirate City Tattoo parking lot across from Pep Boys on E street in San Bernardino.
We meet at 9:00 A.M. and we usually head out for a drive around 9:30 or 10:00

Miata builder is coming out tomorrow to look at the car. I am taking a half day off so we can start at noon.

I have thought about it... there are many problem with it though.

If I do that then the car is not really fully built to CSP rules.

with the 99 engine swap I would have to get a 99 computer and harness and put them in... which is not a problem I CAN do it, but your also talking about getting a stock exhaust back on, which I dont have, and a stock 99 intake which I dont have, and pay insurance for a car that will sit say 26 out of 30 days.

its just a lot of work and a monthly cost I dont need to drive it on the street. and again, then its not fully built to CSP rules.

the way I intend to have it, I will run stand alone, any intake I want, any exhaust I want, and I have no insurance to pay.

now what I neeeeed to do is get another cheap car that we can cruise on the streets. like say a 2nd Miata. Michelle can rock the miata for good gas milage, and still have a fun car to mess around with on our meets... and the best part, - NO PAYMENTS -

I am seriously considering a using my tax return to get a Miata or an AW11.(mr2). The MR2 would have 1985 smog regs and the miata would be an OBD1, so easier smog laws. (BTW Casey, your smog rules are based on the block, not the heads. What year is you engine block?)

I want a little car that I can beat up and not feel bad about it. That way I can have my fun, and the RX stays stock. (aside from the springs, shifter and exhaust)

The insurance is really cheap if you go PL+PD and nothing else.
And as for registering it . . . . . just do as little as possible to keep it on the streets, but push it to the limit. I want an exhaust that is 94Db, headlights 22.1" off the ground, and a a reverse light made from one LED. Keep the MAF and the o2 sensors along with a (high-flow) Catalytic and you are all good.

the entire engine is from a 99.

which means 99 computer, 99 harness, 99 intake, 99 everything.

exhaust is no biggy, but it does add to the list.

insurance WOULD be cheap, but stilla montly cost. maybe I will look into exactly how much.

registation per year is very little.

the hard part would be to get everything 99 to pass smog. DMV wont register it till it passes visual and sniff. and right now there is to much 90 stuff remaining.


BUUUUT I have thought about it time and time again. I even though that maybe I can take the money I was going to put into a trailor and put that into 99 stuff. that way I CAN drive it on the street..... we will see, I really just want to get it running at this point, then focus on weather or not I can/want to street it.

I've been on Verizon forever. I've gotten several people to switch to Verizon because I would give them a hard time about their dropped calls.
Then I discovered a crazy deal w/ Sprint that I had to try out.
Since they have a 30day trial period, I figured I had nothing to loose, and tons to gain. Also, with all the issues they have had lately, they at least managed to upgrade their service in most areas.
Well, I tested the service everywhere I went for a couple weeks, including Phoenix, and Flagstaff when I was there. I went to the Keithrica's house, because they left Sprint since they had no coverage at home, and I had full bars and internet.

well actually, insurance will not cover accidents that happen at racing events anyways... BUT, in auto-cross, there isnt any wheel to wheel racing, its more of a one car at a time type of racing.. although there are usually 3-4 cars racing at once, but they are at seperate parts of the track.. id be amazed to see someone hit another car:)

i tried sprint and will never, ever go back unless they (a) hand deliver the phone to my house, (b) bend over and kiss my ass 3 times and (c) give me 20 years of free service. come to think of it, what's the use of 20 years of useless service. fuck it- i won't go back period. LOL

they blacked me out on both my phones for 3 days (old & new), and then after the 30 day period when i decided they sucked too much and cancelled they tried to stick me a bill for all the calls. (wtf is the point of the free trial period anyways, if they're going to charge me?) needless to say, i called, waited on hold for 80 hours, bitched til they hated me, and cancelled my bill.

for all the time i wasted without service and on the phone w/ those assholes, they should've paid ME. besides that, 90% of incoming calls all showed up as "roaming" status on my phone, which means i have to pay above & beyond my contract. so screw that. (what shitty coverage.)

Sprint's customer service is probably one of the worst things in this world.
However, I'm on a SERO Plan (Sprint Exclusive Referral Offer).
I was referred by an employee, and get to talk to employee support, not the normal cs dept. Employee support is fine.

...that's because there wasn't any games worth owning/playing. I had a PS2 as well and enjoyed some of the series on that platform (Gran Tourismo)....but with the introduction into online gaming...I was sold.

I got my PS3 for free . . . so the choice was made for me.

I do play online games a bit, so an XboX may have been better. But for the price, and the way things are looking for Blu-Ray, I like havin the PS3. That and the fact that we have a bunch of other sony equipment that is all linked up now.

- I enjoy sports games: Football, Hockey, Basketball
- Metal Gear was one of my favorite games, I think there's a new one out.
- Not a fan of first person shooters, I get bored too quickly or I want to throw my controller at the TV because some damn sniper got me and I don't know where the #@$# he is.
- Grand Turismo was tons of fun although I probably never fully utilized most of the options as back then I didn't understand the gearing, camber, etc etc.

Jedi, this is what I would recommend...since you want PS3 for a couple of reasons. Get a PS3, and a subscription to Gamefly....or just go rent a couple games from Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, Etc.

Check Gamestop's website and they'll have the top 10 games for the system at that point. Play what is popular, as that offers you the best chances at finding some good online play....and find some games that you enjoy.

I know what you mean, about being away for so long, you don't even know what you would want to play.

I really enjoyed the Final Fantasy series when I had the PS2....and I had that need to find something similar on the 360. I tried a couple games that looked the same, but rented them and they didn't have the same feel. Finally found one that was what I wanted and it just felt good.

I never played Metal Gear, so I don't even know what type of game that is....but, you could always go into a Gamestop and ask them if they have any recommendations....of games that would be like Metal Gear?

oh man, Metal Gear was an awesome game. You were this secret ops guy who had to rescue the world. The videos and storyline were what REALLY sold me on the game. This was YEARS ago and I just remember how the story line would suck you in. Heck, even Emilie loved watching me play since she thought the story line was great.

Lemme see if I can find a link or a review of it just for fun. I believe the actual game was Metal Gear Solid.

Injectors not flowing proper fuel. He is going to send the injectors off for service and we'll then see what is wrong with them....if they are stuck open, not flowing well, not flowing consistently between all four injectors, etc.

Also need to get new spark plugs and swap fluids out. There is a ton of fuel in the engine oil...so changing this out is a must. The diff and trans have new fluids, but we may be swapping it all out to replace with new Amsoil...since Amsoil is the most popular in the Miata racing world...and that is one of the cars sponsors.

Metal Gear looks a lot like a 3rd person shooter.....

check out Assassin's Creed, that has the same 3rd person perspective, as well as a very interesting storyline. Erica is playing this game and loves it. It starts off rather slow (with the tutorial level) but builds really fast as you earn better abilities and such.

I love RPG games, as well as those that are similar in structure to to old board game (Dungeons and Dragons). I love the whole skill set, weapons versus magic, stealth versus brute strength. I absolutely loved Oblivion. Another 3rd person player with lots of quests, and multiple story lines. There was a game that just came out called Two Worlds. The demo looked exactly like Oblivion and I got excited. I downbloaded the demo and played it...it was horrible. Made me want to go out and get Oblivion again though. :)

I don't know if either of these titles is available for PS3....I know they are available for 360. I guess that is the other thing that sucks, because if the game is only available for 360, you won't be able to get much advice from us 360 guys.

Other games that you may want to consider: any of the star wars series of games....I think there is one called Jedi Academy....there is also another one that Cesar had told me about a month or so ago, that was in development that he was really excited about. I don't know what it was called or when it will be released....but most of the Star Wars games are released for boths systems. Lucas like making money and he has no committment to either 360 of PS3.

Does PS3 offer free game downloads? The playable demo part of xbox 360 is so great. You can download a playable demo and determine if it is a good game for you. You don't even know how many games I have downloaded and have realized that they were not right for me. This is so much better than the old days of going down to Toys R Us, buying a game and taking it home to realize it wasn't what you were hoping.

installed these parts 2 weeks ago

-dnp tubular turbo header
-buscher racing ported o2 housing
-off brand downpipe (didnt fit, had to remove)
-walboro 255 fuel pump (bastard gave so many problems, but is fine now)
-megan racing catback exhaust
-forge manual boost controller (had to remove, but will reinstall this sunday)
-HID's (couldnt get the ballast to fire up, so no-go on that)

i just purchased a megan racing downpipe and recieved it a few days ago, wow, what a difference in quality over the cheapo one...... so i will be installing the DP and MBC hopefully this sunday.

as for the tuning.... my friend ron, who had the yellow 500awhp evo (came to one of our meets and raced the cobra).... he has a evo 9 also now, and bought some goodies, so he wants to install them, then we will get them tuned together... so hopefully in the next few weeks..... IM SO ANTSY IN MY PANTSY!!!!!!!!! hopefully by the next meet it'll be tuned

Right now . . . COD4. Been hooked on it for a while.

Assassins Creed I have been through twice. Including killing ALL Templars. It is a cool game that gets you lost in that little world. The fact that you can interact with EVERYTHING in the game is cool.
And my favorite is Ninja Gaiden Sigma. It looks just like a CG cartoon. (think "the Incredibles")
And Heavenly Sword I have been through 3 times already.
PS3 has a ton of game demos, as well as movie previews. You can actually just buy your games online and download them. The cool part is the little blu-ray movies and short skits they do. Takes up huge space on the harddrive, but the resolution is full 1080

damn it! The ABS light came on this morning on my Explorer. A quick google search tells me it might be a bad wheel speed sensor.
I really don't feel like fixing this, maybe I'll be lazy and go to the dealership.

When I was helping Shazbot28 find his 8, we drove like a freaking hour and a half to go to the seller's house. (out in BFE)

some ass wipe dinged the hood of my beamer in my work parking lot last thursday... made an app't with the body shop tomorrow to see if they can get paintless dent repair to make it less noticeable.

had to attend a friend's dad funeral friday, and have been super busy all weekend. then this am i discovered a goddamn squirrel running around the freaking family room. (we had ppl over yesterday, and someone might've left the door open.) anyhow, i was livid. but, i think i finally got mr. squirrel out and made it into work an hour late.

woohoo...... just installed my manual boost controller...... SHES ALIVE!!!!!!!! it was fun flooring it, getting out, adding a little boost, flooring it, getting out, adding more boost..etc....... i think i have her at 1-2 lbs over stock..which is ok.... but ill wait for the boost to go way up for when it gets tuned.....

but since i installed all my parts, this was the first i got to really feel her opened up:) shes fast...she faster than fast... she makes fast cars look..not fast! (sorry, mangled quote from The Longest Yard)

brakes feel great. I had new pads, rotors, and a brake system flush done in December.

Our cats brought in a mouse once...it spent two days under the stove before Erica suggested that she had heard a mouse under the thing. Went and bought traps just to prove to her that there wasn't anything under there....well, she called me later that day saying there was a screaming mouse stuck in the sticky trap. Even funnier part of the story was when the cat attacked the mouse, and then got it's paws stuck in the same sticky trap....and hilarity ensued.

re: selling rxz88m... one thing that we learned when selling the acura TL for my mom is that it's worth it to advertise in a wider radius and more affluent areas. we listed the TL in san gabriel valley on craigs list for like a month and no one called. then we listed it in OC, and the calls came in like MAD. there were so many buyers lined up that we couldn't even fend them off. IRONICALLY, the guy who bought it works like 5 minutes from us. (turns out he lives in OC, but works in san marino.) we bought the car new in 2006 for $35.5k and sold it for $29k.

The kids here at the middle school like taking the balls from the mice....we were having to replace so many mice balls that the district decided to get the infared kind...the one with no balls.....

...but now they are having a hard time keeping the nice new infrared mice from leaving the classroom in student backpacks. I think that is where these new mice like to live. At least that is what students say, as they weren't the ones that put the mice in their backpacks...they must have gone in there on their own.

Maybe we could make the car not so dang slow that a crossover was able to give chase. I mean after all that Mustang KR should have been able to beat the chase car hands down.

It was just a flat out statement. the 8 is only 25 thousand compared to the evo that commands 30 thousand price tag.

my evo was $26,999 (not including all the other crap they added.. but yeah) :) its the RS, but there was a GSR there for $28,999..... the rx8 i was looking at which was a plain jane one, was also, $28,999..... not trashiong the rx8, remember, thats what i went to the mitsu dealer to buy, but it sold, so i ended up getting an evo (thank god:))

I have heavy as 19's with a staggered setup and I can almost guarantee that my car gets more miles per tank than most 8's out there....what I mean to say is, there more to it than just tires, but they can make a slight different....."ruined" though...I would like to hear what happened.

I was even thinking about buying that set off you cause I have always liked those wheels...maybe sell my volks since it doesn't look like it will matter what wheels are on the RXZ88M when/if it sells.

I had the same set up and got great gas mileage (comparatively) as well.

very close. I had the Kumho MX's (one step up from those). The MX's are more of a track tire, but I was curious to see how they would hold up with Daily Driving.

My MX's were amazing tires which lasted about 20,000 miles. RotaryRasp and a few others have the tires that Loren is looking at and I've heard TONS of good reviews on them.
I drove Rodger's car, tires were very quiet, sidewalls did not feel soft, and the grip was very similar to my MX's.

With that said: I've now switched to Toyo T1r's. :)

I guess I cant say 'ruined' my mileage.
But it went down by about 1.5 MPG.

More friction? Heavier set up? I dont know.

Or maybe it is the fact that I have new air filter and spark plugs sittin in the garage, not in the car.

plugs will make a huge difference in mpg.

I think part of it goes back to what Speed was talking about when I showed him the wheels I was considering. It's all about rotational mass that we add to the vehicle.

what about the Fuzion ZRI's? isn't that what Dan had on his car? (then again he did total his car.)

Gerry: It's really close betweent he two. The only thing that comes to mind now is that the Kumho felt 'softer'.
I only have about 2k on the Toyos so it's hard to really compare them. Once I put more miles on them, I'll let ya know

you say 245 40 18 rglbel but dont you mean 245 45 18, that is what tire rack says are our stock size is?

225/45/18 are stock

but that means the sidewalls are 45% of 225 . . or 101mm

if you get the 245, you should get the 40%aspect ratio to make a 98mm sidewall
245/45 would be a 110.25mm sidewall. That is too tall, and performance would suffer.




by way of comparison : my rears are 275/35 . . . or 96.25mm sidewall.
. . . . . . . . . . . Fronts are 245/40 . . . . so a 98mm.

I know that dyno graph is not too tall, so it may be exaggerated, but that is a flat power curve

I was just thinking the same thing. Jesse is making (almost) full power from 4k on. My guess is Jesse is hitting full boost about 3700.

Thats awsome dude. high Dyno numbers are impressive, but if you only get to use that 500 h.p. for 1k RPM, its almost useless. it alsmo makes the car hard to drive.... of course thats not your problem, that bitch pulls from the get go. :)

that prank is actually a group of actors who do various public events that draw intrest. the are the ones who start new pants on the subway in NY as well.That was almost funnier than the video.

So last Friday i found out i got two sky box tickets to the fontana race on Sunday. A friend of mine loves nascar so i took him with me. Man what a blast. I am not a NASCAR fan but i do respect them now. the seats (booth) were awesome, the food was great its too bad the weather didnt cooporate. i was able to take a long lunch break on monday to see the finish of the race.
10:30-11:30 on sunday
11:30-1:30 on monday

i have more pictures but i thought these best respresented the day. oh and we saw ZZ Top.

oh. i just saw this on AOL i've been looking at cars again.
is that the same car we saw at the car show, but i think it was
