wow what a NASCAR race finish!!! watching it live made me hold my breath and tie knots in my stomach. (do a youtube search for bobby allison in 1987 for a similar crash at talladega)

Edwards got tired of his back flip so he tried a new version of it.

So I reset the CPU and put the new (bosche) plugs back in with the exsiting coil pack and wires. Everthing is back to normal except for a small rough idol...

(1 week later)
...well the rough idol got worse and now the engine light is on again.

I took it to a shop, they ran the code and one of the fuel injectors is leaking. Stupid me, when i was first starting to take the plugs out i accidently started to take the injectors out. Well I guess I did not put it back scure / properly. Any way the shop is saying it will cost $378 to replace the seals and clean them. Seems out ragious since it is right on top of the engine. If I knew what to do I would do it (look were that got me the frist time).

Any suggestions? The shop also said to have a look at the timing belt, but I think I will put that off until it gets closer to the manufactures recommeded milage.

yeah injector seals are about 50 cents each from the dealer... $1.50 tops.

yeah, and if you're not confident, I would definately recommend not playing with anything fuel related in your engine.

Yeah Jesses "misshap" was a double whammy. not only did it major suck for him, but it screwed me as well. My last set (the set he crashed on) was by far my fastest lap. because of his mishap I never got a timed run. I was second fasest of the night, but still 1.5 seconds behind Jesse. I know I would have been right there with Jesse on that last set.... but of course Jesse had to go and mess that up for me.... thanks Jesse!

yeah, I like the competition at an autocross. MUCH tougher people to run against. real classes with real rules, electronic timers.... nice

but being one of the big fish in a small pond is fun to, no working before or after is also a major bonus. more seat time as well! reasonable cost. passengers allowed.... it is very nice as well. I just hope they keep this up for a while at least. Its was a nice change of pace.

well, one thing is that i've accumulated a LOT more rock chips from the canyon runs w/ the 626 guys... was never even close to getting this many chips on the SB cruises. maybe it's the mix of other cars all kicking up shit like mad- esp the damn evo's... lol. the usual "safe distance" i leave when following rx-8s', apparently ain't enough for the mix of other cars. maybe it's the roads... wtf knows. i need to find time to do touch ups and then polish my hood & front bumper again... just been too tired from work and haven't had time... <sigh>

i find that simply avoiding looking at my car seems to work the best. :)

i never knew that going to the theatre early gives you a discount. between my gf and i, we only paid $12 for both our tickets at the AMC.

anyways, about the movie. it's REALLY good! and, there was also a fight scene (out of many, lol) that i'd have to say was the best fight scene out of all the sci-fi movies i've ever seen.

oh, and stay for the credits....at least about 1min. or so into them there's a little bit more movie part.

Actually crestline would be a perfect run......besides being fun if you go the front way (up the 18 and down red rock road to the 15) it will dump you right on the 15 and its only a 10 min drive to our house :-)

Does the protege have the same port as the RX8.....where the scanner actually plugs in? The RX8 is an OBDII type, which makes it significantly different from most other cars....and the reason why we had to buy the CanScan tool.

I beleive it went from Casey, to me, to Cesar...but I don't think Cesar has a need for it anymore since he has the Access Port (I could be mistaken though).....

i will try to make it, pending no other unforeseen events- namely star trek. :lol: :P

protege should be OBD II compliant since it was built after '96.
RX-8 is CAN compatible so not all obd sensors can read the codes.

As for you 8 guys, our San Bernardino drives are still looking good. There definitely is an absence of RX-8s though; you'll be surrounded in -7's. A couple EVOs, an old Eclipse DSM, a Civic, and a 240sx all show up from time to time.

I can install the software, and you can try it, but I'm not responsible for any fried ECU's.

autozone no longer scans the cars, pep boys, midus and sears do still provide free scans. i went to sears last time and what they told me is that it needs a full diognistic to actually read the code as nothing specific was brought up. i would like to have one general to perform this anyway.

I have the CANScan-USB.

They no longer make any of these, and they only make the ODBScan-Apex.

The ODBScan-Apex is a universal scanner, and it has had some firmware upgrades.
The "free" upgrade is for ODBScan-Apex owners w/ older firmware.

I don't know much about CAN bus or ODBII, but I sounds like Loren needs an ODBII scanner.

You can contact Harrison R&D 281-751-8836 directly and ask if the CANScan-USB will work w/ your car.

It fits mini/half kegs. Basically think about a larger sized mini fridge that has been emptied of all trays and bins, then has a large spout out the top and a hanger on the back to support a Co2 tank....

I thought I could put it on the side of the kitchen island...the height is perfect, but it is very wide and makes it nearly impossible to walk around the kitchen. I think I'll need to be creative with the placement for our party...may keep it somewhere else in non-party modes.

Picking up the Co2 and keg this afternoon...will hook everything up and will crank it to freezing temps to get things ready for Saturday. Everything else is ready to go as Erica and I have done chores all week to get the place ready.

Cesar......we may need to exchange hard drives again (so I can get some more RB2 downloads prior to tomorrow).....and do another swap to finish out the chievos after the party. Maybe I could come by today and swap. Currently at 722k online in Forza for you....may need two more nights to get you to the million.

Spent a couple hours getting the BBQ all cleaned and ready to go....so no need for you to come over early to get that prepped. But I would imagine that people from the cruise would be starting to show up after they finish up lunch.....1:30?

I'm hoping someone (hint hint hint) will give me a headsup when the cruise is done and people are heading over. I anticipate that they will do crestline and then end on red road.....going in the direction towards the 15. That would be the easiest to then just head south down the 15 to our place.

There is a Taco Bell, Subway, Wendys at the Sierra offramp for those who want to pick up lunch there....or we could just start grilling if people want to skip the fast food and head straight for the Jorge Asada.

Pirate City Tattoo is the meet location for the cruise. Meet time and directions are in the very first post on page 1 of the thread. If you feel you may be late, or are prone to oversleep the snooze button on your alarm, I might suggest requesting a cell number for Vipers or Speeddemon32, as they are the hosts for the meet. They leave promptly for the cruise, and a decision will be made at the meet, which roads will be taken.

If you decide you would like to hang out afterwards, just find out whom is coming to our place and follow them on the 15 to our place.

For 5 de Mayo I ended up at a local Mexican Restaurant in Santa Ana (where' I've been going for 15 years) with Emilie and one of my best friends.
We started pounding down the beer and because i know all the servers, they broke out their personal stash of Tequila and started bringing it to us. I think it was Corallejo? (VERY good stuff)

There is no such thing as a "whole keg". A full sized keg is called 1/2 keg and is 15.5 gallons. A half sized keg is called a 1/4 keg and is 7.4 gallons. Don't ask, it should be 7.75 gallons but no one ever said a beer man could do simple division. ;)

Forza has been dead this entire weak. Struggle just to find a room that is full so I can beat up on everyone.

Can't sneak into any rooms anymore though...as when I started this week you were ranked at level 12 (amatuer)....so people were shocked when I beat them (it was actually funny as hell). They wanted to know who tuned the car and where I got them...that no way a level 12 could beat them....but now am up to level 23 (pro) and no one wants to race me anymore. :bootyshak

Yes i am showing up later I should be done with the race and back in the area by 1, if i decide not to go with mirna and her firend hiking. i imagine i will be there before dark for sure, say 5? then again it is suppsoed to be hot on saturday and if i get dehidrated beer is not the solution.

Loren: drink lots of gatorade after your race.
you'll be rehydrated
then drink beer
then drink water or more gatorade before bed.
