what kind of gas did you burn. when i flooded my engine
and took out the plugs they did not look like that. and we
all know what kind of gas i burn mostly..
my plugs were clean xcept for all the gas that was on them.

that is 25000 miles on the original plugs.
I always use premium, and do my occasional redline.

That is what they are supposed to look like after 25k.. . . right?

yeah but you have to remember its hell of a lot cheaper then a bugatatti and faster. the power to weight ratio on that car is awesome. they say it can go much faster then what is did. they were supricesd they did that speed on their first run.

i went to the 626 meet on saturday night and saw a Ti Gray 8 w/ a bumper like erica's. at first i was like, hey that's a tsunami bumper- don't see very many of those. once i started chatting with ray, he mentioned picking that up from keith & erica. LOL

it's a small world afterall, and the snowflake bumper is now Ti Gray. :)

Yeah, Ray did pick up the Tsunami bumper and had it painted. He was planning on getting the Ings side skirts as well, but went through a lot of money on his car over a very short period of time, and I think he ran out of money.

You should also adjust the colors on your siggy.
Seems like one of your games titles is a different color, so I fixed it for you.
1000 Gamerpoints: Oblivion, Forza 2, Call of Duty 2, Avatar, Viva Pinata, NBA 2K6, EA Sports Fight Night 3, Fuzion Frenzy 2, ENCHANTED ARMS

kwescott

Not ignoring you man.....not at all. I just had been getting so frustrated with the game lately that I didn't want to burn myself out on it entirely....cause it can be a great game. I remember the first couple weeks the game came out...we would all play online together.....but then Jessie stopped...and then Casey got distracted by the Miata....Loren, rarely see him on anymore...and the list goes on.

I am really into Rock Band right now, Legos is 4 achievements from being done....but there is always time in there to shoot some foos.

I would love to have a Nascar race again on Forza....but ti seems that no one has played that game in months....:(

since games are being discussed: Someone mentioned that X-box will get a blu-ray addon soon. That could be kinnda cool for you guys.
Anyone looking at getting it? (will probably be cheaper then buying a seperate player???)

FastRX8
03-03-2008, 04:36 PM
I'm still considering the HD DVD player for the xBox.
It's $49 at Best Buy.
Comes w/ 1 free dvd and a rebate for 5 free dvd's.
Plus, I have a $40 Best Buy gift card, and it still works as a good up conversion dvd player.

Jedi54
03-03-2008, 04:46 PM
so it'll basically be Free after gift card + free dvd. Nice!
You going to get a blu ray player down the road for new movies?

FastRX8
03-03-2008, 04:52 PM
If I bought a blu-ray player, it would either be in the form of a PS3, or a media center pc.
I'll wait a little longer to see where we end up w/ downloadable HD content.
Downloadable HD is showing up everywhere, and in a year or so, may be just as plentiful as the DVD's.

lesper4
03-03-2008, 05:04 PM

Detrich
03-03-2008, 06:40 PM
well, at least u HD die-hards will have plenty of porn titles to watch, since that's their format of choice. (at least until they jump on the blue ray bandwagon.)

p.s. to my knowledge, high definition "content" is "hd content"- regardless whether it's stored on a hard disk, blue ray disc , or "hd" disc- ie the physical platform is merely a storage media.

i used to have $5 generic 1/4" cables for my studio reference monitors in my home studio. and, they sounded ok at best. i then i switched over to the $25 monster cables, i could definitely hear a difference. maybe it's better shielding or what not. but, in some audio applications i do think that higher grade cables make a difference.

cool. Thanx.

The car is now almost 2 years old, so it is clay bar time.
I normally would use a buffer. But that seems a little extreme for a newer car. I am used to old junkers with 25 year old paint.

Jedi54
03-04-2008, 02:01 PM
yeah, no buffer needed. Make sure you don't drop that clay bar though, it's useless if it touches the ground.

I always have an extra, just to be on the safe side.

Detrich
03-05-2008, 01:03 PM
damn. i would've at least kept the RENESIS license plate as a souvenir. but, that's just me. :)

speaking of cars. if you're really seriously thinking of ditching the 8 for a fast 4 seater michael, the ONLY real car that is even worth considering is the bmw 335i sedan or coupe with a sport package. for about $45k it is pretty much THE fastest 0-60 sedan plus all the german engineering & luxuries one could ask for. don't get me wrong. the 08 m3 is sweet also. but, it's almost $70k. and, unless u track that thing, u're really not going to get your bang for the buck on the m3.

if i were replacing my 323i, the 335i coupe with the sport package would be my 1st choice. best bang for the buck. plus u get da uber twin turbos.

HI long time no talk.........Our car was bought buy a family in N CA but they where going to give it to their son which lives in LA.

The decal in the back window is tint so if he wanted to take it off he would have to replace the tint. I'm sure thats why it's still on there.

Have a good day!

yeah what Michelle said.

though it sounded to me that they were going to take the car up there for a whle, then bring it down here when it was his turn to have it. (they were going to get the mom something else)

Maybe that has happened already... maybe they never did take it up there??? I duno.. but I do know their mailing address is up there.

I kept the front plate. ;)

funny to see not a thing has changed sice I sold it to them. judging by the front wheel, it could use a bath.

So they flew people in from Florida to come to this meeting.
It lasted for a little over an hour, and now they are about to make several big changes to their dealerships (27 of them) based on my presentation.

These people have more faith in me than I have in myself. It is wierd when something that you see as being common sense is a huge revelation to them.

Sometimes it pays to be the guy on the outside lookin in.

YES

YES

YES

I cant tell you how many times I have walked into something, and been like "this is stupid" and made suguestions, and they LOVE it.... and vise vera, many times I have been working on something and someone comes in and says "damn, your doing that the stupid way, try this".

It really does pay to have someone on the out side, a new set of eyes to simply look at something.

ok so I took Jesses car for a drive the other day.

I went to his work to say hey and see if he wanted to go for a spin, but he was working on someone.... so I took his car alone to go get something out of my car (my personal car was not with me)

HOLY CRAP!!! That bitch shits and gets!

boost comes on low and hard. you start feeling boost around 3k and are hitting full boost by 3800. the next 3k are gone within a half second. your slammin 2nd faster then you can think, once into 2nd and your right at the sweet spot, hit the gas and you pull to redline within a second. shift to 3rd, and again your right at the sweet spot. hit the gas and you hit warp speed. I never got out of 3rd as the stop lights are to damn close.

I never really got to get TOOOO stupid with the car. one I was on surface streets, so stop light to stop light was over in 3 seconds. and two, its not my car so the level of stupidity was much much lower. but lets just say that trip to motor pool was a new all time record.

The evo was fast before, now its just ludicrous.

ok so here is the best part, I get to motor pool (about a mile away and 15 stop lights) and I realize I left my keys in the county van back at the shop.... oh darn, I guess I will have to go back and get the keys and make the trip again.

This time I try to be a little more "normal driving" because I wanted to see how it did as a street driver. Now, I'm not saying its undrivable, because it is, but as a street driver it really does have to much power. if you short shift like crazy and keep the RPMs low, its fine, but this is, one, not fun, and two, harder then it sounds. you forget quickly how fast it is. so you take off from a light all normal, then boost hits and the bitch pulls like a raped ape... and you didnt even mean to. again, its not undrivable, but you do have to be cautious.

Moral of the story, the money was worth it. lots of bang for the buck. It’s a wickedly fast car, and a blast to drive….. it would be incredibly easy to get into trouble with the law.

Oh yeah, and as for the blow off valve…. Yeah its loud. I made the people in Riverside county wonder if there was a JGTC race going on close by. (I like)

i've been w/ new line for 6 years as of 3/15/2008. it looks like they're giving us 3 weeks of pay per year of service w/ the co., which isn't bad- since 2 weeks is the norm. but, i heard that MGM gave their employees 8 weeks per year of service when Sony took them over. so, in comparison to that, we are sucking pretty badly.

i've started looking passively, because none of us know when our end dates are. and, leaving prematurely forfeits severance. it sucks either way. :(

Jedi54
03-07-2008, 02:00 PM
3 weeks per year isn't bad at all. There was a major mortgage lender that did layoffs recently *cough cough CW *cough cough** and they only gave 2 weeks pay. That's it.... (regardless of years there)

Really thought this buyer was the one.....spent about 2 hours with the family, going over the car. I forwarded the guy in Florida my for sale link....so that he had all the information needed to make the decision on the car. When I got off the phone with him about 230 in the afternoon yesterday, everything seemed to be a go. He had already found a shipping company to pick up the car, and his girlfriend was in the process of picking up the loan. he said he would call the next day (today), to let me know when things would happen. I had told him my bank was closed on Sundays so nothing would be done today anyway, but he could still call if he wanted.

Well, he called late last night, around 10:00pm....and it started with "You won't believe this".....I knew it was the statement that would send this buyer away as well. He said he found another stock 8 in his area for the same price as I was asking, and it had only 26k miles and was still under warranty. I didn't have any hard feelings and told him congradulations and enjoy the car. He felt bad for wasting my time....but this is what I have to deal with as I am the seller, I will have my time wasted....as it already has been with three "serious" buyers.....

....so, we'll move on to the next person.

Next!

at the owners request more picture of the monster evo (our location had pretty glary conditions for pictures)

on the way home it was jesse glen and i kind of strung out on the 210 and this 92 intregra comes up and wants to race me, i smile cause i am not a racer and he moves on to glen. i think glen playes with him and then jesse sees what is going on and joins in but it is too bad he has to get off at the next off ramp outher wise the intregra would have another thing comeing to him.

thank you good sir:)

and as for the teggi..... glen toyed with him for a second, so i went a lane over, dropped into 4th, and flew by him in a second.... (he was still floored:lol: ) i then preceeded over to my turnoff and went onb my merry way

OK here are pictures of my drivers side front tire. as you can see the inside corner of the tires is cupping(?) this has only occured on this tire. all tires including this tire were the correct PSI except for the right rear which was very low. i went ahead and put this tire on the drivers side rear and i think it should be fine since those tires are ridig flat as apposed to the front that rotate. any idea why this has happened. when it gets lower i think i will change it out but i think it is ok for now? oh and the location where the treat is showing through is the only location (about 1").

what are your thoughts?

Wow, no kidding. I have no idea why this is happening. My only suggestion would be to keep at least a foot distance in between you and the curb while driving.

Just kidding :)

Any worries as to why your rear tire was so low?

according to michelin's web site, regardless if a car is front or rear wheel drive, the tires with the most remaining tread should always be placed on the rear wheels. that said, it is weird why only that one tire has uneven wear. if it were me, i would just get new tires at this point, as safety is always a #1 concern. it's just not risk getting caught on a rainy day with under-par tires.

Didn't take any pix except for the ones Casey & Michelle took w/ my camera :)

Definitely didn't have a good day Saturday though. First, rain into 2 consecutive accidents on the 210 East and was majorly late for the meet. Second, my right contact lens popped out right as we went up the first twisty on the 138- forcing me to pull over right away. Thirdly, I didn't know Jake & Steph weren't going to lunch with the gang and accidentally followed them the wrong way after we came down the mountain. <LOL> :P

p.s. sorry didn't get to see Keith & Erica on the cruise. also, the calendar looks great- thanks for all the work u guys (keith & loren) put into it.

cupping of the tire is usually caused by a blown strut..... the tire will be fine, and should wear down smooth again if put on another location, or fix the problem... does the strut have any wetness on it?

Cupping is from Alignment.

Damage on the inside is from a bad suspension set up or broken suspension.

Your tire rubbed the perch for the springs.

Cupping is from Alignment. Loren, did you have the alignment checked on the Protege....have you ever had the alignment done at that car?

Damage on the inside is from a bad suspension set up or broken suspension. You may not see the leak, but the strut could still be blown....is this right guys?

Your tire rubbed the perch for the springs.I would suggest you check this Loren, this is likely to have happened

These were all very good points Glen...Loren, I'm sure that one of these is most likely the cause. When you had described the tire to me, I had a different image in my head. but when I saw the pics, it seriously looks like something cut the tire. I'm thinking along the lines of Glen's suggestion that the tire may have hit the spring perch and that you may have a bad alignment and/or bad strut.

lesper4
03-11-2008, 12:22 PM

the car's suspension would feel off a bit. When the struts go, they seem to get bouncy.

yeah i thought it was the strut /spring assembly but it wasnt touching when i did the rotation. it may have settled now so i will check it again when i get home. if the strut is blow how would i be able to tell?

That is why Jessie asked if the strut was "oily" looking or if it looked shiney/greasy...all signs that the strut is leaking and bad. You most likely see a stong black mark, and it will be really dirty in one area if it has gone bad.

Jedi is right as well, the suspension will feel "off"....but since this is not your daily driver, it may be hard for you to diagnose....maybe asked Mirna if the car has felt any different lately...more bouncy, or if one side seems to be more responsiive or sluggish than the other.

The only other way of telling if the strut is blown, is pulling it off the car and comparing it to the strut on the opposite side of the car. With the strut tower assemble taken apart (pulling the spring off), you should be able to just push the strut on the ground to collapse it....if it is blown, you will have no problem collapsing it...and it may not even come back up (rebound)...or it may rebound too quickly.

Jump in here guys....

Jedi, he needs an assembly for the protege....this isn't for his 8.

well, my boss is flying to NY next week to meet w/ the head of Warner Bros' IT dept. and, from there he'll determine which "transition team" he'll need to get New Line moved over to Burbank. i'm hoping that i'll get a spot on that team, because at least then it will extend my employment here for a while. and, i'll still get my severance after that. it's unlikely WB will have jobs for us though- since Time Warner is cutting across the board, which means even those guys are at risk of having some cut-backs & lay-offs.

and, in the meantime, i'm just going to be passively looking and hoping that i find something suitable nearby. would start hating life if my commute became 2 hours each way. :(

Keith's got this one nailed on the head. I don't want to sound like an ass when I say this but I'm just going to spit it out: Mirna might not be able to tell if the car has felt a bit 'off'. My experience with most people is that they don't always pay attention to all the little things on a car and most cannot fell the difference with a blown strut; especially if it's in the rear.
I'm thinking the true test is going to be removing it and manually testing it

Cause you know us IE people aint going to pay 4 bucks for one of them fancy beers in a plastic cup. the T1R's are proving to be great tires, I now see why so many people use them on afterket wheels.
The Kumho's did have a more agressive tread pattern to them though.

Here's my recommendation from what I've seen so far.
If you're driving almost daily: Toyo. Better tread life
If you don't drive daily and want an agressive tire: Kumho MX is the way to go.

Love 'em both to be honest, I can easily see myself getting another set of Kumhos if I keep driving as much as I'm driving now.
However, if I go with new wheels I'll probably go with Toyo's simply because I don't want to be shelling out $1,000 in tires every year.

Gerry: for you, I'd go with the Kumho in 245, 40, 18. You'd LOVE them.
