I finally got a test drive of the new 8, and I must say that I am quite impressed. It doesn't have near the power or torque of my FD, but it's such a sweet ride. It revs so fast and smooth that I hit 9K a few times, and got that little warning beep by accident. I was also doing about 95mph on the interstate, and didn't even realize it until I looked at the speedo. The turning is phenomenal! My best friend was in the backseat, white as a ghost, while I was driving it. And he has an S2000! Screw the horsepower problem, I say kudos to Mazda for such a wonderful car. Now let's see a new 7!

A-Have lot's of money
or
B-Don't mind spending money that should be spent on stuff like food, or a life, stuff like that.:D

How are they going to do that? The FD RX-7 is out of production.

If you mean a NEW RX-7, then very little of what is said about the FD will apply to an entirely new model.

Gordon

Every one is crying for rx-7, cry all you want. The earliest it will come out is 2007. Mazda is more focused on the New Miata and the RX-8.

How hard would it be to chop out the freestyle doors, thereby saving several hundred pounds of weight, and call it the new RX-7? I bet they come out with one within the next 2 years...

Gordon: I did my part, I bought the RX-8 and I pray that in 2006-7 I can trade it in for an RX-7.

rx-7~rx-8: I had my FD as a daily driver for 3 years and it never left me stranded. Thing is you have to be very dedicated to the car maintenance. Many nights I would get home from work, eat dinner and work on the FD till 2-3 in the morning. If you keep it well maintained, it will make all the work worth while when you hear those twins spool up.

At the auto show i just went to I asked about the Mazda Speed RX8 and the possibility of the new RX 7.

The representative said there will be a Mazdaspeed RX8 but not for a while they need to get out the Mazda speed Miata. ( Which sounds very promising..... Think FI Miata..) Then there are about 3 more Mazdaspeed models that need to be created then finally the Mazdaspeed RX8 will be made.

I asked about the possibility of a new RX7 and the representative said "Make no mistake there is no possibility of a new RX7 period". Very confident response IMHO.

I saw in a photo in MotorTrend last week about an alleged new RX-7 to be released in 2006. There is a quick mention on their website under "future vehicles, 2006". Supposedly, it's going to be a two-door, with 350+HP, and weigh around 2700 lbs. If I remember correctly, it's going to be offered as a rag-top, that's of course it makes it to the states.

93redrx-7: thankx alot, i love FD's, and i think people with FD's are like gods, man that is one hell of a car, i would take one over a lambo, porsche, or even a ferrari, i am not joking.

you rx-7 is really sweet... of the hook.
i just hope the rx-8 is reliable as in not to worry about reliable.. reliable. people are concerned about that the most.

FDs are awesome. i kind of wish the 8 resembled it a little....but i guess that's not what they were going for when making this car
