I wanted an easier and quicker way of removing the front bumper, so replaced the stock mounting hardware with these...

DZUS Panex fasteners (D-ring). You only need four sets but I found a pack of six for around $20 on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/6-BLACK-DZUS-Fasteners-Clip-Fairing-Race-GSXR-R1-R6-CBR_W0QQitemZ130196757263QQihZ003QQcategoryZ34284Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

I'm currently making an aluminum shroud that will remain stationary and still be able to provide access to the D-ring fastener for quick removal/reinstallation.

short write-up of the installation (http://viray1.multiply.com/journal/item/3)

And yes, I know... the bumper needs to get painted.

seems unnecessary. the stock mounting is only 2 bolts on each side.

Ya unless you're competing in something and you happen to damage your body panel and need to replace it quickly, the quick release clips are too much. I dont really think you're going to be taking off your bumper every day or something.

...makes it easier for me to put my car on a pair of rhino ramps and/or gives me enough clearance if I ever need to use a jack underneath the front x-member.

but you guys are right, this is not necessary for those who doesn't work on their own cars. I just thought it might be useful to somebody else besides me.
