i was reading around and read something about the renesis being made to reduce emissions and to get higher mpg.
Does the renesis really get higher mpg? i thought that the renesis got worse mpg and ive heard of 20b engines getting 16mpg

First off: the MPG topic has literally been beaten to DEATH on this forum. Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the search option and you'll find various threads / polls on the topic.
We've seen people get 10mpg, others get 23 mpg. Comes down to how you drive the car, what kind of gas you buy, and where you live.

Realistically: If you're buying an RX-8, mpg should NOT be an issue for you. Buy it knowning it's going to get MISERABLE mpg and if it doesn't then kudos to you. If it does get miserable mpg, then you'll be prepared for it and won't have anything to complain about. :)

its not that i am expecting high mpg but i just wanted to see if any members with FDs and rx8s noticed any mpg difference.
only brought this topic up since they said their goal was to improve mpg but most of the posts i ahve seen have lower mpg than the FD rx7

i was one of the ones that was getting 11mpg, i got some MAF cleaner and cleaned my MAF and temp sensor and now im getting 14-15mpg with the same driving...so those of us with 30k 50k 70k+ miles pull that thing out and clean it you'll improve.

Each car actually gets comparable gas mileage to each other. The Renesis is a more fuel efficient engine than the 13B. This may seem impossible considering the mileage similarity between each car but remember the RX-8 has over 400 lbs of extra weight it has to carry around and it has a much more aggressive, gas robbing 4.44:1 rear end as opposed to the RX-7's much nicer 4.10:1 rear end. Install that rear end in the RX-8, and shave several hundred pounds and it would definitely get better mileage.

Fd gets a bit worse gas milage than rx8, like 1-2
