I've been driving our 8 for weeks around Brisneyland without seeing another on the road, then today Sunday saw a silver one bottom of Brunswick St. in New Farm (waved, no response) and a titanium in Waterworks Rd. Ashgrove. Bloody ubiquitous, they are.

I assume that was yours (due to bad fuel).

BTW.. have you heard anything from the offending company?

Yeah. I'll post something about all that later. Maybe when I run out of things to do in the US. Hahaha.

what we need is a rx8forum.com hand out and get these anonymous drivers online, asap!

Actually - what we need is an rx8au.com !!

most of the cars I've seen were flown by drivers who'd never heard of this site till the poor bastards saw me!

Hmm.. * loads Quark DTP * - might drop by Snap printing in the morning..

I wonder if enough folk would be interested in having RX8 cards printed up to make it worth the effort?

Or have I finally crossed the line from nomal car owner to "totally obsessed fanatic?"

Handing the cards to the dealers wouldn't be too bad, All said - the forum has has a positive effect on my RX8 experience. Some dealers would probably decline.

I'd maybe go with a www.RX8club.com number plate frame, but the "bumper sticker" won't stand a chance.

I'd be happy with rx8au.com just redirecting straight to the aussie forum, I think there's value in the worldwide view - sometimes :D

Kev - I agree on all counts there. A number plate frame would be cool, but no sticker will ever touch my beloved car.

Ditto with the redirection to the aussie section of the forum. If you only ever visit the aussie part of this forum, your missing out on a whole bunch of great (and often entertaining) information.

On the handing out cards bit...

I did some work up in Darwin recently and the state manager of the company I was working for was a big XR6 turbo fan... and he'd made up xr6turbo.com cards to hand out.

How about getting Mazda to send a letter to each owner about a new site address to redirect... or just get a link to this site. Mazda should have a car club and just use them to get a list in all capital cities.

www.rx8club.com.au???

MAZDA head office does not want rx8 owners to know any possible negatives about the rx8 ,so they would not be interested in promoting the rx8 forum to rx8 drivers they have a policy of denail and keep us in the dark as much as possible .

Example most of the australian rx8 forum members werent even aware that their cars had only 1 oil cooler on their rx8 until i bought it to the attention on the forum when i challenged mazda australia as to why?? they told me that because of our enviroment we only needed one .
The weather in australia is different to america BULLSHIT , its purely a cost saving exercise .

I don't think any car manufacturer (save for maybe a few exotics) would choose to support a free publlic forum that discusses their product.

I don't think mazda can be singled out and beaten up on the oil cooler issue. I would like the tyre pressue sensors too, but that's just the way product marketing goes these days.

I'm not saying it's right to miss inform or just plain not inform potential buyers of product. But we could all be driving black model T Ford's instead :D

Hang on , hang on! Check out the Mazda Australia web site guys - http://www.mazda.com.au/articleZone1.asp?articleZoneID=81 - don't see any reason why they wouldn't promote this forum if they were aware.

I have been offered by a Mazda DP funding to set up a RX8 club, and use of facilities for meetings etc. Food for thought.

Hahaha! Man - your up too late. I didn't know I had a living second  I feel sorry for you :p

I would like to take up his offer - to help pay for insurance etc, metting place for cruises etc. But having formal meetings and the like, newsletters etc.... Sounds like too much work. Need to think about it some more.

Perhaps we can set up www.rx8forum.com.au one day. At the moment it is good we link in with the US guys.

I would like others comments etc.

I think a .au link is a good idea to link directly to the aussie section of the forum, however there is too much good information available in other sections of the current forum to break away from it.

I like the forum -- am too apathetic for a real car club (BTDT). The forum gives a space for people to pass on experiences, advice ... and the odd joke, all with anonymity if required.

I totally agree. I don't think we have a critical mass yet to justify it anyway, not like the LS1 forum. They were originally part of the US LS1 forum, but split off when it got big enough.

And we seem to have enough eagle eyes on the US threads to keep us informed of stuff.

And I agree with Timbo as well.

Maybe I could persuade the DP for some sponsorship money for the Aussie section of the forum?

I think we are getting to the point where we could use "sub-sections" to the Aussie forum.

If I'm away for more than a day, there can be a lot of posts to go through... it would be good if they were categorised. (Like the categories on the main forum)

If this means we should have our own forum... then I'm for it!

We can always keep an eye on the international forum.

Viva la revolution!
