So I recently took in my car to the dealership (about 2-3 weeks ago) because they said the front calipers needed to be replaced, and they replaced them. Then last weekend I realized when washing the car that one of the front rims had been chipped about halfway up the spoke. I have chromed OEM rims so what it looks like is that they got hit with a hammer and the chrome has cracked and come off in an area the size of a dime.

I struggled to think of when I could have done it, I'm VERY careful when parking the car to the point that my parking job usually sucks pretty bad. Then yesterday when I was washing my car, the microfiber I was using snagged on the caliper as I was cleaning the scraped spot and I realized that it had to have happened at the dealership, it's a hit like it got dropped or something got dropped on it, the damage isn't consistent with curb rash or else there would be scrape marks of some kind.

Question is, what do you think my chances are with getting them to fix or replace it since it's quite probably their fault, should I say anything or try to go thru my insurance? has it been too long to complain?

 

they are going to say tough luck. it could have happened from a rock or stone on the road

 

what lurch said. if a dealer EVER takes responsibility for their fck up I would love to hear about it.

 

You just learned a valuable but expensive lesson.
When you drop off and pick your car up from the shop examine it with a fine tooth comb. Pay special attention to the areas where they have been working or will be working note any damage before and after.

No way they are going to do anything about it now. They can claim and rightfully so, that you have been driving it for 3 weeks since and it could be anything that did it.
