I had to drive from Brooklyn home to central nassau today right around 3 when the snow was starting and the ice had just formed.

Belt parkway: 4 cars in the bushes, and 2 turned facing the wrong way with some body damage. Helped an old guy out of his car until the police showed up, after he spin into the median.

Southern state: 3 cars in the bushes, including two 4x4 SUV's, surprisingly.

Meadowbrook: 2 accidents, including a late 90's mustang facing the wrong way with the hood in pieces, and I saw a mid-90's Merc E-class spin into the wall not more than 100 ft ahead. crazy.

Me, on all these highways: 30mph in the slow lane with my blinkers on LOL (on stock tires, so don't give me shit...)

With those bridgestone's, I lost traction quite a few times, though the car is actually really controllable in a low-speed slide, but really I was just trying to get home and wasn't dicking around.

In any case, an interesting day, and the car's all huddled up in the garage, hoping it's thawed out a bit tomorrow.

Yeah, almost everytime we have meets (Maximas) its usually about 30 cars.

But, when we have our big meets, our numbers increase to over 100+ cars coming from the Tri-State area.

I thought why not include the 8's since I am such a Big Fan! :D:

I understand your concern, I agree with you. The Maxima meets on LI are not rowdy. A majority of us will not tolerate loud music or donuts or anything of that sort. I bring my son who is 10 to these meets. The last thing I want is any issues. I have not experienced any problems nor would I bring myself to one. I have total confidence in my friends over at NYCMaximas.org.

So 3 days ago, my 8 failed to start, and I haven't been able to get it going since. I tried a new battery, did the de-flooding routine, tried brand new spark plugs, the works. Still cranks w/o starting. Anyway, it got towed into the dealer today but I doubt it will be fixed till next week. Pretty pissed, cause I wanted to show people my custom HD-radio install ;-(

Anyway, I still want to come to the meet! Would anyone in (or passing through) Nassau mind picking me up and I'll join you guys for the caravan? I could always borrow my dad's Ford Windstar that I've been borrowing, lol, but that's not much fun... I live in Carle Place, literally 4 minutes from Roosevelt Raceway. Let me know, thanks....

See this is what bothers me (aside from the $200 it's costing me). They say, yes, it is flooded. But I thoroughly tried to de-flood, and I don't understand what they might have done that I didn't do. In this order, I:
1) Fully charged the battery using wall power overnight, and kept charger plugged in during starting attempts
2) did the "crank for 10 seconds with the gas pedal depressed" thing a few times
3) took out the fuel pump fuse and removed the spark plugs entirely and cranked it to "clear out" any gas.
4) Removed all the plugs and let it sit overnight to let any gas evaporate

why are they charging you?...are you under warantee?

heres the fix that we do that has worked for me 2-3x in my own garage on the rx8. and a dozen times on my rx7's and friends.
jump it with another vehicle, someone giving it gas at about 4krpms then crank the 8 with the pedal down and 3-4 with pedal off.
once cranks you will see the exhaust have white smoke come out.

See this is what bothers me (aside from the $200 it's costing me). They say, yes, it is flooded. But I thoroughly tried to de-flood, and I don't understand what they might have done that I didn't do. In this order, I:
1) Fully charged the battery using wall power overnight, and kept charger plugged in during starting attempts
2) did the "crank for 10 seconds with the gas pedal depressed" thing a few times
3) took out the fuel pump fuse and removed the spark plugs entirely and cranked it to "clear out" any gas.
4) Removed all the plugs and let it sit overnight to let any gas evaporate
