Interesting...the front seatbelt in this car appears to be anchored to the door. I thought I read somewhere that it would be mounted to the seat-back?

I think that was the car and driver write-up. I'll have to check

I knew that the front seatbelts would be anchored to the leading edge of the rear door, but I had assumed they would be completely contained within that rear door. It looks from that picture that the top anchor point is on the door, but the bottom of the belt attaches on the main part of the car. I hope I am just not looking at it correctly, because it seems like it would be a hard reach to get the belt this way and possilbly obstruct entry or exit.

It does look that way. You would have to undo your seatbelt to let someone out of the back. I know that you have to open the door, but that would almost defeat the purpose of having 4 doors.

Remember, these are still pre-production models, and things are bound to change. I mean, take a look at the headliner color compared to the rest of the interior.

Hmmm, this one was shot in Las Vegas...

Are those functional brake cooling ducts?

How feasible would it be to completely close off the upper grill, and make the Rx-8 a bottom breather ala Chevroler Corvette & Camaro/Firebird

I understand that there's plenty of room in the back for passengers but, did any one notice how far back a persons head would be while sitting back there? They wouln't be able to see directly out the side window. All they would see is the c-pillar. That would give me a insecure feeling if someone decided to drive around a corner at 9.2g's:D. Anyways I personally never plan on sitting back their. I would be at the helm.

On pic 3/6 I noticed the start button has gone or has been moved. If moved where to?

Wasn't the start button removed completely on all "post-yellow" cars? I'm sure it was never intended for production.

If I'm not mistaken, I think those pics were taken at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, inside the tri-oval.

Which would explain why I didn't see it when the Mazda Dealers Assn. was in town... There's only one entrance to the infield. and no way to see in the stadium from the outside.

I was told no media was allowed at the event, only dealers.. hum...

I think the headliner colour is like that in the Protege too...I'll have to check when my girlfriend gets home, as she has a black ES.

I hope there's not that much 2-tone going on inside the car. That picture of the rear interior reminds me of a brothel (not speaking from personal experience, of course). That is extremely gaudy, IMO. I just want it on the seats inserts and steering wheel, thank you.

With the seats way back, there would appear to be lots of C pillar. I drove a new Celica and it too has a set back rear seat and lots of C pillar. The blind spot in a Celica is bigger then the windshield..
I hope this style will not lend to a large blind spot in the 8.

I look forward to hearing the final outcome from the Detroit show.

and for those that are going, please make note of my possible blind spot theory.
