Just spoke to the every cool and friendly Rob from T W Whites in Weybridge.

Apparently, for me to be able to get my car (its been sent to be PDI'd !!! yaaay!) next Weds then I have to fil in a V R Fee form and give it to them so they can register the car in my own name.

Problem is that I don't have it cos of the post issue at the moment :(

Anyone know anything about this - presumably we all have to do it....

Hmm I dont think its the V55/4 form that Robs on about is it...thats just the standard registration form for a new vehicle.

Cant get it online either, only from post offices.

For cars and light vans your dealer will normally do this for you when you buy the vehicle, using the Automated First Registration and Licensing [AFRL] system. The AFRL system links dealers and manufacturers to DVLA electronically, so that they can register and license new vehicles. For some vehicles not covered by the AFRL scheme (for example, those involved in cherished transfers and goods vehicles over 3500kgs), the dealer will need to apply on your behalf for your licence at a DVLA Local Office. This means that most new vehicles should be licensed when you take delivery.

When the dealer registers the vehicle using the AFRL system, they will give you a Certificate of Registration to sign. This certificate shows the details that we will use to set up the vehicle record. Before you sign the certificate, check that all the details are correct. If the dealer does not register the vehicle on your behalf, make sure that they give you the application form (V55) so that you can apply to a DVLA Local Office yourself. If you register the vehicle at a DVLA Local Office also make sure that you enter your full name and address (including postcode) on the V55.
