poweredbyplaav 02-06-2008, 08:39 PM my growing collection...
Benjamz 02-07-2008, 03:55 AM I'm in Canada for a very very very very very very important reason.
As you guys know the 2008 Olympics are in China...
The company I work for is called Space Systems Loral; we build civilian communication satellites for countries all over the world. We have built the Sirius satellites and are building the replacement XM satellites... yes the satellites in space for your radios in your cars, we made those satellites... it's funny because we are one company but we build both satellites that compete against each other for customers. Also we built some Direct TV and Dish Network satellites as well as the new Wildblue satellite for satellite internet. We have built many other satellite and have been in business for the past 30+ years... we were Filco Ford, Ford aerospace and now Space Systems Loral.
So we have completed our testing for CMBstar and I have been chosen to stay here for the next satellite, Telstar-11. So I'll be here maybe until May then I can go back home to sunny bay area California.
I work graveyard and with the extra cash I made here I have bought/am buying rotary extreme and will re-open the site with a few changes in summer 08, it will have more RX-8 product. I have been here since Dec 18 07, I'm also transferring to swing shift so I will be able to run Rotary Extreme. Products ordered will be shipped the following business day.
I hope that answers your question Leesha.
So while I'm on this subject just so you guys know a little bit about me and the guy who’ll be running Rotary Extreme now.
I have an AS in Electrical Engineering and a BS in Telecommunications from ITT Tech.
I'm working on a AS in Network Admin and a AS in Network Security Defense in parallel at Heald College, these 2 courses have almost all identical classes. So I thought what the hell, I'll just get them both at the expense of one more year in school.
I'm an assistant vehicle engineer at my job and my responsibility is to test the satellite through integration, during the complete test until final assembly, and then I will travel to what ever country the customer has bought the rocket from to launch it into space.
The cost of the average satellite, the 15 year orbital slot you have to rent in space, the rocket, rocket fuel and insurance for everything runs about 350 million to 600 million.
Also I was a jet mechanic in the navy for F-14D Super Tomcats with the new more powerful engine (F110-GE-400), and upgraded avionics
So I get paid OK, OK to not starve, put a roof over my head (apartment), and support my family...
Well that’s about it, I hope you will have confidence in me that I will produce a good product and that it will be thoroughly tested before it is put onto the market. If it does not meet required specs, then there is no reason to waste my time and make something that you will waste your money on.
Ben Meeker
Leesha 02-07-2008, 12:17 PM Holy nice Bio...very interesting stuff... Can you send me to space...:) And I'm not joking...lol
dozer 02-07-2008, 12:44 PM anyone know where i can get a rx8 racing jacket???or somethin like it?
DarkBrew 02-07-2008, 01:15 PM ^^ Ebay
picnik 02-07-2008, 03:34 PM Where did you guys find the transformer? Went to toys r us today, no luck finding it. Was it a special toy released with the movie?
NsprAshuNz 671 02-07-2008, 04:01 PM weLL heres my main event.. and i threw in a a lil car show jus for fun! the red rx8 is a transformer.. i haven't mastered the art of transformation( lazy). so i just left him the way he is...
Benjamz 02-07-2008, 05:06 PM you can get so much stuff off of ebay for rx8 memorabilia..... I LOVE IT!!!!!!!
Leesha, if you really want to go to space.. i think the company virgin offers it for 100k or so, well the upper atmosphere...
the other option is to donate your body to space science...
or it cost about 40k per pound to put an object into space, so 40k x's your weight in pounds and thats how much itll cost you to get into outerspace
lol.... ben

Hisakata 05-10-2008, 12:21 AM They made a limited in red with 888 pieces in the world to commemorate the rx8 launch.
the yellow one is limited production and looks better imo.
The box has suicide doors.
The rotor is the second hand that spins. nice novelty but still retaining a real movement vs. a quartz.

altspace 05-30-2008, 07:42 AM AutoArt has the best details in my opinion. Worth every penny.
Benjamz 05-30-2008, 08:55 AM autoart is the bomb, im saving for the voodoo blue fj cruiser, rx8 with the chargespeed paint scheme (1991 787b paint scheme), the mazda 787b and now this cosmo.
Aipex8 05-30-2008, 12:12 PM While I was going to school and didn't have a car, collecting models was how I got my car fix. AutoArt, Kyosho and Minichamps are all about the same quality and reasonably priced at under $100 (for most of their models anyway). If you wanna see some crazy detail (little to no plastic, cloth, leather, etc.), check out Exoto, BBR or CMC models.
EDIT: on the Cosmo, I would guess (based on other AutoArt models I own) that there is carpet and cloth seat belts, but the seats are a soft, textured plastic with the cloth pattern printed on. Still very convincing.

Thx. Come to find out, the guy I bought the book and car from is a retired Mazda dealer. The pewter RX-8 was given to him by Mazda Corporate when he visited Japan.
altspace 11-24-2008, 02:10 PM Talked to the Mazda guy again. I might be purchasing another rarity.
His email, "The Book is called Toyo Kogyo Today as you know that was the name of Mazda before its inception after it was originally named Toyo Cork Koyo in 1920.
It Is hardcover and the pictures are glossy in B&W It tells of what happened at Mazda celebrating their 60th birthday it has 50 pages and tells about the factory in general it also has the achievements from the inception in 1920 up to it celebration of 60 years when the RX7 received the car of the decade award.
I don’t think you would be able to buy it as if my memory is correct it was given to all Dealers in 1980 mine still has the original Toyo Kogyo with compliments slip inside."
Benjamz 11-24-2008, 02:38 PM Wow, good connections!
