View Full Version : Canadian RX-8 features missing?
ChristInBen 01-29-2008, 09:09 AM Hey guys,
I have read on here that our models are supposed to have some features that I find missing on my 2005 VR RX-8 GT. Maybe I'm wrong, and we are not supposed to get these features on Canadian models, so could you shed some light on this subject for the features listed below:
1) I cannot find where the TPS meter is in my car?
2) I don't have headlight wipers for my headlights?
Thanks guys and God Bless you all. :)
Ben.
DarkBrew 01-29-2008, 09:11 AM 1) Don't have on ours
2) No wipers but we do have sprayers
AmKorp 01-29-2008, 09:33 AM Like DarkBrew stated, our cars do not have TPS, those are for american models. Also, take a look at the front bumper right below the headlights, you will see a plastic panel, you can actually grab it and pull it out. That is the headlight sprayers, I believe they work every 5th time you spray your windshield fluid. That is all.

I thought it was every 3rd...and the lights have to be on. The salesman kept trying to show me the feature without any luck. then he turned the lights on...

Oh that's really cool, yeah I wondered what those were. So I can pull it out and it will spray my headlights every so often? Do I need to replace those covers back, or what's the purpose of even coverign it....wouldn't you rather leave it off?
Also, it's a shame that we do not have TPS....seems like a really cool feature. Does anyone have any pics of the meter readings, for eg: where it is located (dashboard, instrument panel, etc....), and what it looks like? Also, is there a way we can get it installed from the dealer as an option?
Thanks guys and God Bless.
Ben.
AmKorp 01-29-2008, 10:07 AM No, you don't have to pull anything out. The headlight washers just work the way they are. Don't pull anything out, they just work!
Rems31 01-29-2008, 10:10 AM I thought the TPMS just had a light similar to the check engine light when the pressure exceeded certain limits (both upper and lower).
but yeah don't touch them...they'll come out on their own to spray your headlights...
I always make sure to scrape off any ice that may block its proper operation.

Ok now I'm confused....I thought you said to pull it out in your previous thread and now you're saying don't pull them out! Lol, which is it, I'm confused on this matter. :Eyecrazy:

So it will work either way? Cuz I don't think I've ever seen it work. I'll check with the service manager next time I'm in Mazda.

you dont need to pull it out for it to work...it'll push out automatically. You shouldn't pull it out.
To see if it works, turn on your headlights and pull the handle for the washer fluid 3 times. It should squirt some washer fluid on your headlights...

Cool, I'll definitely try that! Thanks for your help dudes. :)
herbert 01-29-2008, 11:44 AM I think you need your lights on for it to work but am not sure. It's probably stated in the manual. I've actually only seen mine work once or twice in 3.5 years of ownership.

The headlight DOES have to be on...
you can also double-pull the spray stalk to get it the headlights to spray immediately instead of waiting the 5th time.
Redshift 01-29-2008, 05:06 PM Am I the only who pulled the fuse for those stupid headlight sprayers the same day they bought the car?
The sales person showed me how it worked during the delivery process, it sprayed fluid all over the front of my car. I opened the hood, and pulled out the fuse.

I pulled the fuse too since I have the MSPD bumper on, didn't want them to cut the hole on the bumper..

You could say that. :)
I have an 8-foot long shelf over-flowing with cleaning supplies in my garage. The car has more than a few coats of Zaino Bros on it. The last thing I want is washer fluid all over my paint.
I didnt bother with them after i installed the MS bumper as well.

There's another way to get around it. When your windshield fluid tank is below half full, the headlight sprayer stops working. In the winter, it's a nice feature to have. But it drives me banana in the summer. I wonder if you can turn the nozzle around to spray pedestrians instead.
