from auto-ASCII (Japan):

"In LA (Los Angeles) car show in January, 03, 20 or more cars will achieve a U.S. debut. The preview report of the car in which attention is likely to gather also in it. "

"2004 year model Mazda Motor "RX-8" is an appearance schedule to LA car show as a special version used on the movie "X-Men II." "

A while back I mentioned I thought LA was the debut show, and everyone here told me it was Detroit. Check out the lists :D

Here's the NAIAS car introductions:

There's nothing there that implies any of the debuts are restricted to the media. Jan 2nd, 3rd are press days. On the evening of the 3rd, you can get in with a $100 admission (goes to charity) to see it first. Or wait a day.

Well, it is a benefit event, so that's one thing, but I guess most people go to socialize with other people of similar affluence/interests. Besides, a 100 bucks ain't too bad, at least around here.

The Xcar will be shown on the 3rd to media in LA (i'll be there). I think it will be on display when the LAshow opens to the public... then on the 7th, the RX-8 official launch will happen in Detroit, (8am EST, I'll be there for that too!) After that, I think they will roll out the production version at the LA Autoshow, as well.

January is going to be a busy month for RotaryNews. LAshow, Detroit NAIAS and Laguna Seca for the first test drive by a True Rotorhead!. Stay tuned!! (http://rotarynews.com)
