So sad that a brand new 2008 BMW (most likely a M5) was completely destroyed. Even the engine was detached from the body!

Sadder is that 5 people died. Sounds like they were being pretty stupid, but sad nonetheless

Five young lives are lost and you think of only the car?

but you gotta be smart behind the wheel, no matter what car it is.

Saw the news report last night. Not sure what happenned but car was airborne for a very long way and into the woods from the runway. Didn't click the link above, but on the news pictures, there was absolutely nothing left of the car.
Very sad that 5 19-20 year olds died. Peoople do need to learn that bad things happen very fast at high rates of speed. Just a guess, but possible steering issue or blown tire. At least they were on a runway and not on some highway.
Very sad. :icon_no2:

everybody knows it takes a lot longer to stop with 5 people in the car, especially the faster you go. This is extremely tragic. And i doubt it was a steering issue or blown tire its the speed and the full car. I had to make an emergency stop with 4 people in the 8 from 55 and i definitely took an extra 50-60 feet.

Sad thing is their friends will mourn them, then the following weekend go out drinking and driving on the highway. Way it always is sadly but whateva hopefully some will actually be impacted by this and realize going fast to show off isnt the "cool" thing. I'm willing to bet when friends and family are interviewed all of them will say of the driver "He was always a cautious safe driver." which translates into "he was a speed demon and was known to police.".

+1. The best thing is, no innocent people died.

I'm not sure you are reading this correctly as 4 other people in the car were not driving fast. Yes, going into a car with some idiot who was drinking & then driving fast is absolutely stupid, but not serious enough to pay with your own life.
