please let me know!!!
i have it, needs body work
Throwdown 01-24-2008, 01:09 PM I've heard a lot of good things about Shine. In this particular kit I believe it can use some reinforcement in certain areas. Nothing too terribly expensive. If you were in the market for a replica kit, this would be the one you want.
tdiddy 01-24-2008, 01:17 PM They are using pictures of my car in that...
LiTTleRX-8 01-24-2008, 01:24 PM Wow, I didn't realize Shine was still selling these. Good news for those who missed out on the group buy.

Shine seems to have a good reputation with other car forums. most people here are 'anti-replica' so just keep that in mind.
I've read mixed reviews on the Autobahn front end. It sounds like the material used is good but the fitment isn't the greatest without getting a bit of work done on it. (not a lot, but don't expect to be able to just slap it on and have it fit perfectly)
They are using pictures of my car in that...
did they ask first?
romycha1 01-24-2008, 01:44 PM What do they mean :
Sideskirts $350 (center section of sideskirts do not attach to the body of the car...only the ends)
tdiddy 01-24-2008, 01:51 PM did they ask first?
Not that I remember but I don't mind. I wish they would have asked tho because I have much better pics than those.
05whiterx8 01-24-2008, 02:56 PM it means there aren't brackets in the center, just screwed/bolted on at the ends

Dangit.... I need glasses... I thought it said Match, not Attach....
lxlxlxl_saki_lxlxlxl 01-24-2008, 04:30 PM thats why you may see through from the gap. similar to the seibon autoexe replica. only double sided tape attached.
hscrash 01-24-2008, 05:33 PM yeah just got an email from ken !!
haha it just need minimal body work such as paint and install.
he mentioned that make sure try it before paint them in case.
I believe there are fwe cases which the kit is not fit perfect.
still... it's better than spending 2~4k on the kit though lol
Thanks guys for your helps!
Jedi54 01-24-2008, 05:39 PM still... it's better than spending 2~4k on the kit though lol
japanparts.com sells the bumper for about $900 and side skirts for $558. I hope no one is paying close to $4,00o for this kit! :spank:
remixlp 01-24-2008, 06:09 PM I ordered mine today. Cant wait to give my eight her presents.

oh no. I meant in general.
$2,123.90 for only part price, but then shipping prob cost another hundred?
waiting for the item.. - priceless :)
also some genuine one cost about 3500 ish too (for all set)
but autobahn bumper for 600 shipped is pretty good deal..
XDEEDUBBX 01-24-2008, 06:29 PM they are also using pics from japan. prolly the authentic kit..haha. don't mind me. i dont like body kits very much and on top of that its a replica.

it's all about look.
no gaining HP out of body kits lol
HolyCross05 01-24-2008, 06:32 PM I bought the autobahn front from Shine. Had that painted, the MS sides, rear aero flares and trunk spoiler installed all for $900 in Quincy. I thought it was a bitch much, and there are some minor fitment issues with the bumper, but it doesn't bother me as much anymore.

Thanks!! yeah.. I asked around some auto places in cambridge and somerville.
they all saying from 800~900 lol
but I met this guy from rx8club, he can do it for me with good price!
but that really looks good though.
XDEEDUBBX 01-24-2008, 06:49 PM yeah. but still look pretty nice though haha

i never said anything about gaining horsepower. I've had my previous cars kitted and painting and repainting along with scraping, going at extreme angles gets old really fast. If your car is really low forget about keeping the front end scratch free if your a daily driver. On top of that, if you wanted to lower your car you'd have to keep it at a minimum. How do I know? I drove NGO RX8's car and scraped it. Happy scraping!
Jedi54 01-24-2008, 06:56 PM How do I know? I drove NGO RX8's car and scraped it. Happy scraping!
scraping an authentic autobahn kit is punishable by DEATH!

yeah true..
that's why I have been thinking about getting kits.
but I still love how they looked lol
try to drive slow now lol:squint:

thats funny, mine needed much more than "minimal" body work. apparently they bodyworked it a little before making the mold, so purchasing an authentic might be worse, who knows.
Shadow12one 01-24-2008, 11:14 PM I've always been against replica kits. Its rare to come across a replica that was anywhere near an authentic kit in quality.

yeah I really think they are not making all perfect fitted parts.. Maybe few out of
entire products has some error... and possibly you took one...
I was not really sure whether I trust shine's "direct fit", most of people
kept saying those are pretty much fit well..
But I'm really sorry that you had real bad exp. with shine though.
I'll let you know when mine gets here
Fortunate Few 01-24-2008, 11:35 PM is shine the same place as raceonusa.com? their buildings look the same and they're in the same city.
the fitment was okay, there problem areas were both the corners (where the corner lights are). mine did not have enough material there and had to be built out.
like almost every kit, you can't just paint it. it will require body work to smooth it out so the paint comes out smooth.
perks11 01-24-2008, 11:36 PM scraping an authentic autobahn kit is punishable by DEATH!
yea i wanted to kill myself no need for anyone else to kill me!! as for the kit i have heard nothing but great things about Shine and i have the Autobahn front on my 8 and love the way it looks.
yes i think shine and raceonusa are neighbors. my kit actually arrived in a raceonusa box because shine ran out of boxes
Fortunate Few 01-24-2008, 11:40 PM is raceonusa legit? i might get a bumper off them the next time im in socal.

Thanks for good pieces of advice . really I appreciate them!!
yeah I'll def. keep those in mind.. so that I won't disappoint too much when
the kit is off ...
so... scsi.. how did you work it out? do all the body work again and put them on?

wow... great!!
TurboEight 01-25-2008, 02:12 AM When I freaking ruin my MS front end, This is the kit I will be getting.
Love the looks on this kit...Very Subtle
you shouldnt even need to tell the shop its a replica or not, tell em you want it to fit good and look nice and theyll do what they have to do :p:
Fortunate Few 01-25-2008, 02:52 AM is raceonusa legit? i might get a bumper off them the next time im in socal.
anyone. some say its good some say that they were shipped the wrong parts does anyone have experience with them?
JJWASH45 01-25-2008, 04:15 PM I just recieved my bumper from shine... Its getting installed this weekend or early next week... Bumper arived in great condition... Ill post pics of the process if you want to see.
danielk015 01-25-2008, 04:25 PM I have the front bumper on this kit as well.. it does need reinforcement and some bodywork, but if you take it to a good shop, the fitment is actually pretty good.. it is not as strong as an authentic one, but hey, it only costs 500 bucks... also, since the kit is so cheap, do not skimp on the paint and install.. make sure you have good references so that the paint process they use is solid...

flip702 01-29-2008, 12:41 PM Post more pics... i like this kit among others... price is not bad either.
500 bucks for the front bumper alone? yikes! how much is the real deal? I really like this kit, i actually like the front more than the MS (which is the all time classic for the 8) not really feeling the rear.
Im thinking about the front bumper, but not really interested for 500 + shipping to me In Canada.
remixlp 01-29-2008, 11:18 PM Real deal is somewhere around 850-860 for the front at mazdaparts.

mine was 650 shipped. Thats not bad for the quality of the kit.... Ya i know its a replica but its a very good replica. Many people on this forum have this bumper and they are pleased with their result and their cars look fantastic. But if you have the extra 300 to 400 to blow you may as well get the authentic as im sure the quality is even better.
I agree with you I like this bumper more then the MS as well... The MS was my first love, but this kit grew on me over time... Mostly because EVERYONE has a MS kit lol.

haha, that's why i got the authentic front of this long ago. after these replicas, it has become probably the 3rd or 4th most common fronts out there for our car. :eyetwitch

its pretty sad...
its ok ngo we all know you are OG ftw
NGO and SE3P are my 2 fav 8's on this site. Alot of others just over do it with there cars or just doesnt have the subtle yet mean look to them.
JJWASH45 02-19-2008, 08:52 AM Here are the pics i said i would post of my install... I think it turned out really well. Hope you like!

sleeperx8 03-03-2008, 03:12 PM does anybody with the replica sideskirts know how to reinforce them? i didn't take my car to the body shop and instead opted for a painter... and everything fits except for the right side skirt which is at the moment, popped out and ugly.
