I installed a set of TEIN hood dampers yesterday and they seem kindof jerky in their movements. Do they smooth out, do I need to lube them or is it because it is 20 degress here?

Just break them in.. I'm pretty sure. Common sense to give it a few days. Then if it continues then you have a bad batch.

I'm sure the freezing temp does not help much as well.

They are not bad at 90% open. If you take them to 100% they are tough to get started.

i bought the OEM ones from one of the member up here, they were great, way better then the tein ones cause of where they position.

I have been searching for the damper that is nice fit on rx8. I think currently we only have Tein and NRG but don't think they will fit nicely, at least not Tein for sure and don't know how well does the NRG fit.

I can't find the Mazda Europe OEM rx8 damper anywhere, the closest match is from ebay http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330195067188&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=014

There are other rx8 damper on ebay as well but don't think they will fit nicely.

Is there any review(fitment, modification) on the OEM damper? I mean the location of the damper in the picture looks abit weird. I know the Tein has gap. Don't know about the fitment or if modification needed for NRG, godspeed or Mazda3 redline tuning.

Does the Europe hood damper fits US-spec or J-spec Rx8 nicely? Any modification or drilling? Or it is as simple as un-screw a few screws, attach the damper and re-screw? Anyone has picture with it intalled? I'm worry about hoodline gap like Tein damper, which is not nice.

I just received reply from one of the seller from ebay about OEM damper, it require drilling to install.

evo-r has a set they are working on i think. there is a pic on their site.
