Hello everyone, first i want to appoligize for my bad english,but i am not a native speaker. I bought my 8 on 32k kilometers (around 20k miles) 6 months ago and ever since had no problems. now it has 55k kilometers (34k miles) and i have experience my first prolem. I am from Sofia, Bulgaria and the offical dealer's mechanics no s##t (they were asking a frind of mine with an 8, "ooooh what is that engine, a boxer?"). I also have no warranty. This morning i started my 8 and for the first 3 sec. everything was going well. But then the engine stopped as if you have taken the key out...all of a sudden. No CEL came on. I tried to start it again but it wouldn't respont. The starter hovewer is spinning and there is also an additional "bzzzzz" noise which i haven't heared before. Tha car has been sitting for 20 days, since i was abroad during that time and noone has been driving it. The temperature was 3 celsius ( i don't know much is that in farenheit). During these 20 days the temperature has been mostly below 0 celsius and as low as -10. I tried with the search, but the only thing i could find related to my problem is the engine fuse problem which is not the case with my 8, since all fuses are ok. It is also not the batery since i have electricity in the car....(even the starter is spinning normally). I would appreciate some help. Thank you in adwance.

 

well first of all when it died after three seconds, it probably flooded thats why it wont start again, there are many problems it could be, but first you need to deflood it, i suggest you check the top of your intake and make sure the maf sensor is still attached, and check all the fittings and connections on the intake for security, is your car an automatic or manual, if its manual then try pulling it to deflood it......

 

I have the 6 speed MT. Have checked everything as you advised me, but it seems fine. So what you are telling me is that by pull-starting it it will make tje engine start? Thank you for the respond and the help.

 

Check your MAF. if its not connected (or dead), your engine will die in 2-3 seconds right after the start.

 

if it's flooded you'll probably need new spark plugs, tow starting will get it running but you'll need to do some work on it before it's actually good to go, search for deflooding procedures and learn the things you need to do after it's deflooded

 

when you try to start it, is there a little light shaped like a key flashing in the instrument cluster?

Zashto ne e v garancia kolata? Kakva garancia dava Mazda v BG?
Tuk (v USA) ni davat 50k mili...

Thank you all for the tips, but i wasn't able to completly check, because i had to leave for switzerland (and was planning to do that with my 8) and now i am still searching for a last minute flight. When i come back on saturday i will let you know what the problem is... Thanks again

 

jsut to tell you that the car is running again. the injector fuse was toasted... thanks again for the help.
