View Full Version : November NH RX-8 meet
Speed Racer 10-29-2003, 02:46 PM I'd like to get a few of us together before the snow flies and am now trying to work out the details. It seems like Manchester, NH would be a good central location for us to meet. Once everyone arrives we can take a drive out to Hillsboro (the drive comes recommended from my10ae) and hang out over lunch. It should be a good time. Meet new friends, check out some cars, take a spin, and eat some grub. ;)
If you are interested please let me know when you are available.

Speed Racer 11-03-2003, 01:16 AM Pre-run preparation
Here is a quick checklist of what to do in preparation for the day’s events and a breakdown of what we suggest you have ready BEFORE you arrive:
Bring an FRS radio and be sure it has fresh batteries. We'll use these throughout the run to communicate turns, hazards, etc. If you do not have an FRS radio, they are available at your local Target, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, etc. near the electronics section for around $30.
Have your tank full BEFORE you arrive at the designated meeting spot. There are several gas stations at the exit for to take the opportunity to fill up at.
Have all your days supplies ready and on-hand. Recommended supplies include bottled water, sunglasses, and any other items you might feel you need during the run.
Some additional tips while on the run
Reading and understanding these helpful hints will ensure everyone has a more enjoyable time and arrives safely at the end of the run:
Be courteous. Don't tailgate or drive erratically as it is distracting to other drivers. Use your signals so the person in front of and behind you knows where you are going. They might not have a radio, so your signal may be their guide to knowing what's next.
Listen to directions and warnings on your FRS radio. You don't want to miss a turn and get lost! Also, we aren't the only folks on the road. The lead car will typically warn of road hazards, pedestrians or cyclists, etc. that lie ahead.
Be helpful. Sometimes a group of cars may be very large and a person that knows the route may be behind you or a group may be so large that there is a person in the middle of the group relaying messages from the lead car to last car. You may be designated as a relay radio person in this event. Again, using your signals is also a great way to ensure everyone stays on course.
Drive to your abilities. This doesn't mean you can't have fun, just understand your limitations and the limitations of your car.
Drive smart. On twisty sections of road, leave plenty of room between you and the car ahead to ensure that if something happens, you have time to react. As we approach towns, intersections, etc. try to keep tight together, so you don't get too separated from your group. If you do get separated, refer to your route map and communicate that you are separated via your FRS. If you are separated by a large distance (i.e. out of visual range) watch for the group as they will wait by the roadside for you to catch up.
HAVE FUN! Meet new people, check out the cars and enjoy the drive.

Great time today. Thanks Kevin and Roy for setting things up.
I have a couple pics also HERE (http://mysite.verizon.net/vze74l97/id6.html)
Spin9k 11-09-2003, 07:10 PM Great fun today with everyone! Kevin and Roy - kudos to you both. Just started looking at the CD Roy, and it's got great stuff on it... thanks for that. :)
Yes. Real nice CD Roy. Didnt look like that S2000 had anything on you...:D
Great stuff on there. Good job.
Speed Racer 11-09-2003, 08:40 PM I'm glad that everyone was able to make it. I had a great time and it was nice to put some faces to the screen names. I hope that everyone finds the time to browse through the CD and finds something of interest.
I've uploaded a few photos too and you can check them out here (http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4288629121&code=7124088&mode=invite). Oh did I mention that it only took 3 hours to upload the photos and that I really hate my dial-up connection? :p
Speed Racer 11-09-2003, 08:47 PM Gyro,
When I was at Pocono raceway I was lucky that Dan (grey S2000 in video) was having a hard time finding the raceline otherwise I would have had to work quite a bit harder to stay ahead of him. Just goes to show that the driver has a lot to do with which car is faster around a track. :p
I also made a couple of screen shots of the Gtech data and placed them at the end of the photo album (see previous post).
Speed Racer 11-11-2003, 10:20 AM Gyro,
How did your video turn out? I'd like to take a look at it if you can find a place to post it.
my10ae 11-11-2003, 11:00 AM Video? Did someone video tape our run this past Sun?
Speed Racer 11-11-2003, 11:47 AM Yeah, when we stopped in Hillsboro Gyro showed me a short clip that he had recorded using the side mirror. It looked pretty cool. :)
my10ae 11-11-2003, 02:09 PM ok.. time to post that up since he was behind me on the way out to Hillsboro. I can host a site. Let me know Pat (I'm hoping I remember your name correctly) :)
OK.....yes I do have a couple of short Mpeg clips (VGA). However my buddy Mike who was operating the digicam was unfamiliar with it. He thought he took alot of good video, but really was looking at the "standby" screen.
I will splice together a couple clips and post them soon.
Speed Racer......my little "tire warming" incident that you witnessed was one of those standby screen recordings:mad:
Speed Racer 11-12-2003, 09:00 AM Bummer... maybe next time he will hit the record button. ;)
I've been thinking about adding a camera system to my car and the next time we meet I should be able to get some good video clips of everyone cruising down the road.
Thanks for the pics and the great time you guys, Mary and I had a super time. Hope to see you all in the Spring!
my10ae 11-12-2003, 10:12 AM Just yesterday I got a tire warning light and beep thrown at me. It was cold.. 24 degrees. About after a 1/2 mile of driving the light went out. I'm gonna check the pressure in all 4 tonite when I get home. What is the recommended psi? 32?
yes. 32.
I set mine at 34-35 lbs.
No lights when cold.

Speed Racer 01-02-2004, 10:52 PM It is not a bad time to start giving some thought to our next meet. So if you can let me know what you liked or disliked about the last meet I'll try to make the next one even better! :D
Ok.....better late than never.
I still have a short video clip from our meet in November.

VGA mpeg from Sony p10 digital camera.
Thanks Kevin (my10ae) for hosting the video!
Speed Racer 01-16-2004, 09:08 AM Gyro,
I really liked the shots taken with the mirror. It added a nice sense of speed with the background rushing by.
I can't wait to get everyone back together. By the next meet I'll have a K&N intake and Canzoomer's Stage I installed (both are being shipped as I type this) and you will be able to check them out in person. :D
NAVILESRX8 01-16-2004, 11:01 AM Wow, nice pics. My kind of group. Not one had any spoilers or body kits or anything. Nice!! Wish I could have made it. I picked up my car Nov. 20th.
Speed Racer 01-16-2004, 01:30 PM NAVILES16V,
We had a good time at the last meet. You should plan on coming to the next one. I'll be meeting a couple of the other people on the forum next weekend and I'll try to get some input on what they would like to do for the next meet.
Let me know if you have any favorite twisty roads or places to hang out. Thanks!
NAVILESRX8 01-18-2004, 06:22 PM Definetly. I'll be at the next one!! Don't really know any really special places, I'll be happy anywhere there's more RX8's!!!
