back on topic:

as for the image...rotor model is good. rotor texture? non-existent...looks like u assigned 2 plain shaders and turned up their specular values a little. water (?) surface isn't bad. it'd help sell the image if the water was a bit transparent and we could see what's keeping the rotor from being completely submerged (ie. muddy river/lake bed). then again, if u mean for the rotor to be 'floating' in the liquid (wouldn't be water at that point) as it appears, i'd lessen the frequency on the surface ripples to give the liquid a more robust feel...more ripples make it look more fragile/weaker/not very viscous...thus not likely to be able to make a rotor float. another thing that will help sell the flosting idea is submerging the rotor a bit more and perhaps at a more shallow angle...it's mostly the angle right now that's making it look like it's stuck into something underneath the surface.

what did u use? max? maya? xsi? lightwave? poser? (PLEASE NO!) bryce? (OH GOD NO!)

(a little more than $.02 from an industry professional. i have more comments but i think i've said enough.)

elx13 this was done entirely in SOLIDWORKS 2004 I havent had a lot of time to really mess with all the lighting and texturing but this was just a first run sampleto get the project rolling. I actually will be using a diamond plate floor and no the rotor will just be sittig on the floor rather than sunken ship syndrome.

As for knowing that Gord was joking, no i didnt know he was joking. I just thought he was inplying what ECCLES post said.
Basically i thought he was giving me a hard time for posting a huge image on a forum that doesnt even belong to him. I am just tired of a lot of people on this site acting like GOD or something.

I forgot to mention in my previous how cool I think the pic is. I am very impressed with the reflection on the water.
And if that is only your first go at it then I am even more impressed.

Gord: Don't worry about it, as it's not a Renesis rotor anyways as they don't have to drill the three partial holes in the rotor to balance them anymore ;)
