View Full Version : Neptune Speed!!
8Ball 01-17-2008, 07:11 PM I just have to drop a line here. I went Neptune speed and meet Yoshiya and Yoskai(sp?)... These guys are great!! I don't think anyone else will touch my 8 again. They're both rotary fans!! (of course) and really know there stuff. Nice and professional... I'm def going to support the shop. I know alot of us like to work on our own cars and try and figure things out if we don't know what we're doing.... but consider taking your cars here, having these guys do our oil changes and little small stuff like that would help the doors stay open!!!
A++ for Neptune Speed!!!
WikkedOne 01-17-2008, 08:32 PM can you give us an address or a phone number or something?

ChesteRx8 10-06-2009, 01:48 PM nice! ill check this out! ive been looking a good tuner so far i have not found any around my area..
Jedi54 10-06-2009, 02:02 PM chester: you're getting big points for searching!
Yoshiya is THE MAN. I've been using his shop for years (he even hosted a dyno day for us: 18 cars getting dyno'd tuned) and it's the only shop that touches my RX-8.
NeptuneSpeed = Jedi Approved :bigok:
dozer 10-06-2009, 02:04 PM hey hey hey, he searched! :suspect:
scremn8 10-06-2009, 02:23 PM what is this search word you speak of...
yep this shop is a must. took my car to my local
guy for small stuff and he could not find out why
my engine light was on. two trips to neptunes for
un related issue's and the light is off and problem fixed.
volcomx31 10-06-2009, 03:04 PM do they charge to diagnose problem first or just to fix the problem ?
Jedi54 10-06-2009, 03:13 PM I've always just had Yoshiya fix the problem. I'm sure if peopel are going in there just for diagnosis then there's gotta be some kind of charge. :dunno:
My car goes back in there next week for a little work
RX7SpiritR 10-15-2009, 02:45 AM I must agree with you they do great work! They sure did a fine job on my car, but I wont post pics unless asked since its not an RX-8, it's an FC lol
nikkdizzle 10-15-2009, 02:49 AM well i know next time i need an oil change i'm for sure gonna go there!
i had the honor of jedi personally introducing me to yoshiya! defintely a nice guy!

Jedi54 10-15-2009, 12:38 PM Where is the next one? I thought you were going to SR? Who all is invited??
Phil: no matter WHAT Ray says about you....you're alright in MY book!
(which means you're always welcome)
Most likely using SR since NeptuneSpeed is pretty swamped lately with RX-7s so not sure if we could take over the shop for a whole day.
I'll keep you posted on the next one. (probably won't be until Jan / Feb)
Charles R. Hill 10-15-2009, 12:49 PM who says the BHR guys are invited? :lol2:

ChesteRx8 10-27-2009, 11:10 AM i am going this friday to neptune speed! hope they can take care of my CEL!!!
scremn8 10-27-2009, 01:41 PM you could always do what i did..
Jedi54 10-27-2009, 01:51 PM you could always do what i did..
1. Have Jedi keep clearing the code for you only to have it return within hours or a few days
2. go to another shop and have them 'fix' the issue numerous times, only to have the CEL return.
3. ignore it.
4. Go to NeptuneSpeed and get it properly fixed. :)
scremn8 10-27-2009, 02:07 PM hey no cheating... lol
you forgot the ( for two years) part..:suspect:
The Reverend 10-27-2009, 02:36 PM This neptune's speed sounds like quite the cat
xl2oGel2x 10-27-2009, 04:09 PM I clear my CEL at work whenever I can. It usually comes up like in 2-3 days.
Jedi54 10-27-2009, 04:24 PM I clear my CEL at work whenever I can. It usually comes up like in 2-3 days.
what's triggering it? MP?
ChesteRx8 10-27-2009, 06:20 PM is it really bad to have to ur cel on all the time? Cuz i need breaks badly. which one sshould i go for first? I cant wait to visit neptune speed!
scremn8 10-27-2009, 06:29 PM i had a vacuum leak
scremn8 10-27-2009, 06:31 PM brake no question the longer you wait more it will cost you.
safety and money.
tiltmode43 10-27-2009, 06:35 PM I'll keep you posted on the next one. (probably won't be until Jan / Feb)
So far away :(
Jedi54 10-27-2009, 06:42 PM is it really bad to have to ur cel on all the time? Cuz i need breaks badly. which one sshould i go for first? I cant wait to visit neptune speed!
It really depends on what is causing the CEL.
If it's a small evap leak and it's only a bad gas cap then well...that can probably wait.
Brakes are a high priority item since it's a safety issue.
xl2oGel2x 10-27-2009, 09:06 PM Jedi I have a non resonated cat delete...so it comes up after a couple days or so. Its just annoying seeing that light on so I just delete it.
Jedi54 10-27-2009, 09:08 PM you need an AccessPORT so you can just turn off that CEL for good. :)
ChesteRx8 10-28-2009, 12:29 AM brake no question the longer you wait more it will cost you.
safety and money.
ok good lookin out bro!

is it better to buy the break pads at autozone and then bring it to yoshi? or have em order it? cuz at dealership . they were charging me at 400 for a complete set includin labor..
The Reverend 10-28-2009, 12:34 AM Yeah the dealership will try and screw you for a brake job. Autozone pads will do if you are really in a pinch but lots of guys are running better brake pads like Hawk Ceramic, Hawk HP+ or others someone can help me out here. At least get OEM pads
gregs 10-28-2009, 12:45 AM is it better to buy the break pads at autozone and then bring it to yoshi? or have em order it? cuz at dealership . they were charging me at 400 for a complete set includin labor..
what is a full brake job include? is it pads and rotor replacement? or
brake rotor resurface? front and rears?
Jedi54 10-28-2009, 12:48 AM I wouldn't really recommend Autozone pads unless you're on a tight budget. I'm running Hawk Ceramic pads and they're great.
scremn8 10-28-2009, 07:00 AM if you have never had the brakes done then your rotors really need to be surfaced
some auto parts stores will turn your rotors for a small fee. your brakes will vibrate
with uneven rotors.
scremn8 10-28-2009, 07:02 AM if your going to do it yourself make sure you borrow or buy the tool
for the rear calipers.
ChesteRx8 10-28-2009, 07:36 AM where can i get hawke break pads? and does yoshi have them?
ChesteRx8 10-28-2009, 07:38 AM what is a full brake job include? is it pads and rotor replacement? or
brake rotor resuface? front and rears?
just tha pads..
ChesteRx8 10-28-2009, 07:42 AM i want to have it done on friday. and i just dont wanan order the hawke pads online. is there any store in so-cal that i can get those brakes? thanks!
scremn8 10-28-2009, 09:07 AM maybe mazdatrix. in signal hill
by long beach
Jedi54 10-28-2009, 10:58 AM try Mazdatrix or Racing Beat in Anaheim
ChesteRx8 10-28-2009, 12:17 PM will do thanks!
scremn8 10-31-2009, 12:24 PM i have been jinxed my engine light is back on...

Me too! but i was really satisfied with neptune speed! he did my brakes and so far i havent seen any problem except for the CEL coming back on again this morning when i start the car! Yoshi told me i should tighten my gas tank cap. all the time. i would always do that but not i guess thats not the prob. it has only one code and thats what it saying. im going back there again next time to tell him. i am sure he can fix it! yoshi is a good guy very honest and will not charge u extra. he even put my liscense plate led white bulb for free.. Thanks yoshi!
Jedi54 10-31-2009, 05:02 PM Scremn: AGAIN?!
oh crap.
Chester: glad things went well for you at Neptune. :)

ya its a fact! Yoshi is one of the most honest mechanic out for you 8's. other people would charge u extra and would tell you to fix this and that even if its not broken.. neptune speed ftw!!
scremn8 11-01-2009, 10:12 PM my light is playing hide an seek.

JustinsFDpoweredFC 09-28-2010, 07:20 PM I still have to get on the ball an call them up an see if they can dyno and tune my MicroTech. Im sure they can from all the things Ive heard about them.
Jedi54 09-28-2010, 07:52 PM I'm sure they can hook you up.
There's a Silver rx8 there now, anyone here?
JustinsFDpoweredFC 09-28-2010, 08:58 PM Yea thats what I keep hearing so once I get past some of the big things I got going on right not of which none is good then Im going to hit them up
R2D2X8 09-29-2010, 12:16 AM I'm sure they can hook you up.

comebackqid 11-29-2011, 10:57 PM I'm heading here once I gather up my batch of mods, I will be finishing my suspension, bushings, brakes, brake lines, sway bars+links, new clutch, fly wheel, and a mid pipe to with my stance coilovers, man I cant wait, then a few more N/A mods cobb AP, exhaust BHR ignition and drive it till it expires then rebuild and turbo.
david_d_durant 05-19-2012, 01:40 AM I feel like i had the only bad experience at Neptune they were really nice I left my car there for 5 days and the day i went to go pick it up they called me to tell me that they flooded my engine. They took took one hour out of there day to try to deflood and diagnose the problem, however even after the fact they told me that they would not be able to look at it again until a week from today because they had other cars to work on. It sucks that i went in there just for an upgrade and they kept saying its not our fault and theres nothing we can do about it. I think that they are a good shop after reviewing all the reviews but it sucks that I took my car in there for an upgrade and now i had to have it towed to mazda because they still dont know whats wrong with it but they cant get it to start. =[

Im sorry to hear that. but i would disagree with ur comment. yoshi is very honest and will tell u whats up if theres something withnur car. im pretty sure that there is something wrong withnur car but they cant figure out. try to talk to yoshi and he will solve the puzzle eventually.
david_d_durant 05-19-2012, 12:05 PM I believe that he is honest it just sucks when you take your car somewhere to have upgrades made to it and you leave there with your car on a tow truck. And worst of all I had an appointment for yesterday and he didn't even want to make time to diagnose it. So I just brought it Mazda they think it might be a compression issue but I won't know until Monday luckily I'm still under warranty. So I'm crossing my fingers.
